Hey people,
I have finished my term paper on military PTSD. I would like to thank every member of the community that helped to improve it. I got 10 out of 15 points (german grade system), which is ok but not very satisfying when taking into account the amount of work.
I couldn't find out how to...
Well...at the time I defined the topic I was very naive and thought it is possible to overcome PTSD completely.
Now my topic would have the name "The effects of PTSD on veterans and how to cope with them". Now I think it's a struggle that can last a whole life. I will mention this in my...
Wow, that's a lot. By whom do you receive these orders? I guess it's the military doctors or psychologists. And why do they prescribe that much medication? Do you have any idea?
Thank you for pointing out the different meanings of the term "reason". I think I rather want to ask about the contributing factors. I'll take a look at the links?
Could you cite an example? I would like to get a better understanding.
I talked to a vet who said this:
"The VA is quick to throw medication at every problem, including PTSD. I believe that the VA is way behind when it comes to therapy. My VA doesn’t even offer EMDR as an option which means I...
The topic of my term paper: "The effects of PTSD on the soldier and how to overcome them"
So yes, it's only about military PTSD. But I read some threads here and I was surprised how many civilians suffer from PTSD.
Sometimes one trauma can cause another one. For example: MST-->PTSD
Many soldiers say that, after their deployment, the world "lost its colour" and that they couldn't regain the vitality or excitement they had in the combat zone. If those strong emotions are eliminated, chances for depression...
Which treatment method of military PTSD works best for you? If you have any tips/additional options, don't hesitate to post them.
I know that the point alcohol/drugs is problematic and no real option for treatment. But it seems that there are many sufferers who resort to this kind of "medication"...
In this poll I would like to ask veterans anonymously about what they think what might be the reason for their PTSD. Only answers by veterans to avoid the distortion of results, please! I added some points which were recommended by the community.
Thanks, I'll take a look at the links and the book.
Hmm, I have to hand in on May 6 and I can't change the thesis statement any more. Moreover, my English teacher has absolutely no idea about PTSD. In retrospect it would have been better to choose a more specific topic, but now I have to bite...
Ok, thanks for clarification.
Thank you for your contributions!
I already am. The new poll will be online on Wednesday.
Yes, it will be part of my term paper. I talked about that with my teacher (I'm still in high school) and she's okay with this approach. Unfortunately, I do not have the...
Ok, I think I will wait some days until I have more ideas to improve the poll. But yeah, your point will be included in the updated version. Thanks for your contribution.
Yes, I have already read the article. Joey, the admin of myptsd, recommended it to me. Like you say, it's brilliant and...
Wow, I never saw the issue from this perspective. PTSD might be more complicated than most people say. A lot of folks just think it's only the killing what messes with the soldier's head.
In this poll I would like to ask veterans anonymously about what they think what might be the reason for their PTSD. Only answers by veterans to avoid the distortion of results, please! If you have any tips for me how to improve this poll, don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you! I really didn't find those websites during my research. But there is a problem: I'm writing the term paper in the subject English, so it necessarily has to do something with the English-speaking world (especially USA). It's not sufficient just to write the content in English. That's...
Yep, I'm sorry, of course I want to include the females too.
Thanks, this is a better expression. I didn't take into account a possible misunderstanding.
You're right, maybe it's better to say that I want to show the impact from a professional and personal perspective.
Once again I agree, but I'm afraid there are not such vet organisations like in the US in Germany. Moreover I know a guy who tried to make contact to someone working at Ramstein...
Dear MyPTSD community,
Let me first introduce myself. I’m Simon, an 18 year-old student from Germany. Currently, I’m writing a term paper about combat PTSD/military PTSD. So this research is reserved for veterans. I would like to depict the issue from the soldier’s perspective in order to...
