Do you think C-PTSD will make it into the DSM in your lifetime?

We agree to disagree. Can you link me to these facts? It'll actually improve diagnosis. To get to the root of it what is recommended today? That you go to a trauma therapist. It's about making trauma treatment mainstream. My bad. I really believe you should check out my Tim Fletcher...

Do you think C-PTSD will make it into the DSM in your lifetime?

I'd argue that the disorders listed by you come from repeated chronic complex trauma which is the root for C-PTSD. I'd expand C-PTSD to include symptoms of these disorders which is why the DSM would become the size of a pamphlet. Uh, I said repeated chronic trauma. No need to get rude here...

Do you think C-PTSD will make it into the DSM in your lifetime?

I see. You've every right to believe and stand by your point. For me, personally, and in my opinion, chronic repeated trauma will always result in C-PTSD (disorders like eating disorders, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, dissociation etc.). Having it in the DSM will allow individuals...

So you would like to see C-PTSD in the DSM. Do you think it'll make it in your lifetime?

Honestly, I'd argue that that disorder *is* complex PTSD.

Do you think C-PTSD will make it into the DSM in your lifetime?

I politely disagree. My experience as stated in my original post is that even with ICD 11 inclusion of C-PTSD, unless it's in the DSM it won't be recognized. If it would be then the healthcare system would be empowered to get educated and change lives, including psychotherapists. For who has...

Do you think C-PTSD will make it into the DSM in your lifetime?

I see. I still think C-PTSD given it's due will revolutionize mental health(care) in general as many disorders stem from repeated trauma. When that will happen (point of this thread), the DSM will become a pamphlet. So while it's good that there are 700+ pages covering PTSD, in the DSM, and some...

Male Survivor - resources for male CSA

Good to hear your therapy journey is going well. I wish you prosperous healing. In my case, my trauma therapist took it as a joke. I seeked out therapy for sexual abuse from a sexual abuse recovery organization however they are not trauma informed even if they present themselves like that. I'm...

Male Survivor - resources for male CSA

So, I've been sexually abused twice as a child. Once by my father and once by an older kid in our play group when we were young. I came across this resource that I want to share with you specifically for male (C)SA as there aren't many resources out there for us men as compared to women where SA...

Do you have an internal monologue?

I just came across this video where somebody interviews someone regarding her not having an internal monologue. I thought I was the only one with this. I'm curious, are there others here that don't have an internal monologue? If so, do you relate with what she described in the video with her...

Do you think C-PTSD will make it into the DSM in your lifetime?

Yes, it's PTSD + extra and that extra (according to DSM criteria) is not recognized. I would also argue that if c-ptsd would be recognized and given it's due, DSM would become from the size of a book to the size of a pamphlet due to it's developmental nature. I'd also say that PTSD as it...
