So, I've been sexually abused twice as a child. Once by my father and once by an older kid in our play group when we were young. I came across this resource that I want to share with you specifically for male (C)SA as there aren't many resources out there for us men as compared to women where SA is more prevalent. Here's a video on the topic of Stolen Boyhood (a memoir) that I think resonates well regarding the consequence and aftermath of being sexually abused as a male child. You can find more talks on their YouTube channel and more about Male Survivor on Male Sexual Assault & Abuse Support for Men | MaleSurvivor

It’s unfortunate how history of behavior is repeats itself when it comes to the treatment of the minority versus the majority. I too was abused my the same sex, a female predator and a female victim. The resources and research surrounding females offenders and help for their female victims are slim pickings. I understand that male predator and female victim is the majority. But it at times feels like due to our “rarity” it means we're less important. I’m glad to see you showcase some of the resources for us in the minority. It makes it all feel less small.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Have you considered seeing a SA specialized psychotherapist or a trauma therapist?

Yeah, I recently started seeing a trauma therapist that specializes in sex therapy, sexuality, and sexual identity. It’s going pretty well. I did not realize how entangled my negative feelings towards the field of sex was with my sexual trauma. I don’t know why I thought things were a quick fix. What about you? How’s your everything going since you started working on your traumas?

Good to hear your therapy journey is going well. I wish you prosperous healing. In my case, my trauma therapist took it as a joke. I seeked out therapy for sexual abuse from a sexual abuse recovery organization however they are not trauma informed even if they present themselves like that. I'm out of resources at the moment to find a new therapist and start to do the deep trauma work (somatic experiencing with someone sex informed, I hope) so it'll have to wait for a little longer. How long? I don't know. Until I get a home (I'm currently homeless) and a job to afford to pay the bills and therapy. Until then, I rely on resources such as in my original post.

You might’ve heard of the YouTube channel before but Therapy in a Nutshell has a lot videos about helping trauma, most being some form of self therapy. I really liked her Processing Emotions playlist. YouTube is usually my go to for self therapy. It has just about everything. It even has some audio books like Complex PTSD: Surviving to Thriving.

I'm so sorry your T took it as a joke. The reaction of someone who probably knows deep down they don't possess the necessary skills to support you...

You deserve better.

Good luck searching for resources...I think in time hopefully more will surface...info on COCSA as a comparison in the last few years has become more prevalent - it didn't exist really as a more public concept until recently and now more and more resources are surfacing...
