You shouldn't have to step down but maybe it's time to start seeing what other jobs are out there. Maybe you can work some place for the same or better pay that will treat you better. If you are determined to keep this job or have to keep this job because there aren't other options maybe try...
It might be that your therapist doesn't check email that often and will respond faster to a phone call. Also, you are not stuck with one therapist. If you feel you need a second opinion there's nothing wrong with getting one. I'm sorry you're feeling worse today. There will be a better day!
Thanks everyone! Yeah, most of the people at work and school know I have PTSD but don't know a lot about it. I basically want to make sure they know it's a symptom and that I'm not icing them out on purpose. Thanks for your suggestions. I will look that stuff up to post.
Oh, I get upsetting transportation dreams a lot - cars, trains, etc. Usually it's about where I'm going in life or who's in control of that (fighting for the wheel etc). Once I can figure them out they stop again until the next time I'm worried about where I'm going in life or who's in control.
Same as what J'qel and Joeylittle said. Get someone to take care of that pilot light for you and look up a crises line just in case. Based off a web search I found this: https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org/. Haven't tried it but it looks good. Others may have other suggestions. Then give...
This is a socially difficult symptom for me. I often am so unaware of my surroundings that I'll walk right past someone who I know without realizing they're trying to talk to me or that they're even there. People think I'm purposefully ignoring them and often I can't correct the problem because...
I have no training in analyzing dreams but I've heard people say that teeth in dreams can represent image or power? Then again a lot of stuff in dreams are just probably random.
I often say that my cat Mcgee is a wild guy. He is a huge muscular beefy cat with an incredibly high squeaky voice. He gets very bored and hyper and then he will get a look on his face like that old photo of salvidor dali. Then he will meow at corners and try to climb the walls. He get about...
Sounds like there is sypware on your computer based on the email stuff. See if you can get a computer professional to help you out and document as much of this stuff as you can for the police.
Some of the stuff you said about color sounds like synesthesia. There is a statistical link between that and PTSD. Then again, maybe it just had to do with the meds. I have a form of synesthesia and I had a series of purple dreams during a certain stage in my childhood trauma. During them my...
Hi Dead Star, I am also a student with PTSD from abuse. I have found both the Sleep forum and the Employment and Education forum very helpful for dealing with juggling school with PTSD. Welcome!
If you have insurance that covers therapy or can afford therapy I suggest finding someone on your own. If not then try and see if social services in your area will help out. It's not good to have to wait so long when you feel the need for it now.
Yes, proper treatment as soon as possible is important from a health perspective. It's also important from a worker's comp perspective to go to someone qualified to give you a diagnosis. A diagnosis will also help you from a disability accommodation standpoint. So sorry to hear you went through...
I've had stuff like that happen after really intense therapy as well. I suggest contacting your therapist and letting them know. They might decide to change treatment or step back and work on getting you some ways to cope before proceeding. Don't just try to power through it. That's what I did...
So here's what I've been trying to decide lately: given that I have limited energy and free time, and it would take a lot of these to get myself to a place where I'm ready for a relationship, is this something I'm going to put time towards?
Here's my situation: I have friendships that I'm...
I am also a rape survivor and also converted to Christianity later in life. I find that I have a lot less sexual thoughts since going on zoloft. SSRIs are like that for a lot of people. It's been kind of a helpful side effect because it gave me a chance to sort of step back and look at my...

Neo-Nazi sites have urged their readers to troll those upset about the election into suicide. Please don't fall for this. If you have friends who suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts please make sure they know not to fall for this! Please reach out to those you know to...
I'm so sorry to hear that. For me whenever I'm dealing with loss nothing else helps me quite like faith. I lean on prayer and the Bible. That helps give me the peace to still enjoy the little things in life still worth enjoying. I also like to focus on what I can do when all the stuff I can't...
A good therapist will not act judgmental about stuff like that. I can understand being afraid to say something though. Sometimes I've taken months to work my way up to telling my therapist things. Sometimes I would write down notes to bring in to help explain and collect my thoughts and that...
If your therapist has been a therapist for a while I bet they've heard much worse. Those shame feelings are a symptom. Maybe start with telling the therapist you're trying to work up to telling him/her something that you have these feelings about. Good luck! :)
I'm so sorry.
I have heard that whether or not someone eventually develops PTSD can have a lot to do with what help they do or don't get immediately after the traumatic event. I suggest, as the others above did, that you reach out to a professional as soon as possible to get help with this...
