No, but hypervigilance isn’t just for people who are assaulted, and irrespective of trauma, there’s very common patterns.
Triggers are predictable and clearly linked to trauma - like a car backfire being a trigger for someone who’s spent time in warzones. But that’s triggers.
Hypervigilance is...
It sounds like she’s pretty aware of just how badly she’s screwed up here, and has put in some clear boundaries to make sure it doesn’t happen again. That doesn’t usually happen when Ts screw up!
I’ve had some pretty bad experiences with Ts in the past. And sometimes they need to be ‘held...

@caramelbruleelatte - I’ve read your post a number of times, but it’s really very difficult to understand.
Perhaps take a few extra moments to write a bit more clearly what the issue is, or the feedback that would be helpful.
Welcome to the forum!
There’s some good threads about how folks have found EMDR as a treatment modality. Typically it gets good feedback in terms of how helpful it is for symptom management, but solid preparation is essential to making sure it doesn’t go completely pear-shaped:)
Physically it was good - I had more energy, and I channelled it appropriately, so I ended up in a better place physically.
Emotionally, though? The word for me is Instability. Not being numb means I get to experience the highs and joys and wonder. But it also meant that there was very little...
Welcome ☺️
Do you have a therapist? Regardless of what you remember about your childhood, the symptoms you’re experiencing today, and the impact that they’re having on your life, make it worth talking to a professional. So you can figure out what’s going on for you, and set about getting the...
If you’re keen to read the research on the drug this relates to, there’s a meta-analysis here. Sounds like research still has a ways to go, including ensuring that the drug can be taken in safe quantities, but it definitely looks promising:)

To be honest, ‘safe spaces’ on the internet aren’t really a thing. But that’s not to say that a place can’t be safe enough, depending on what you get out of it.
This place is a big, broad, international community, with the full spectrum of human experience represented...
I’ve done a lot of art therapy, and a good portion of that art therapy was on a trauma unit, doing art therapy on my trauma.
I’m sorry the staff at the time made you feel like this response was somehow unusual. On a regular art class? Sure. But in art therapy, for someone with complex trauma...
Sounds like you’re judging yourself pretty harshly for being distressed by experiences you had growing up. Is there space for some self compassion there?
Something doesn’t need to be sexual assault to be genuinely distressing.

Not yet. Psychosomatic pain can be an indicator for a range of mental health issues, not just ptsd.
At some point in the future, there’s likely to be biomarkers that they’ll be able to use to confirm a diagnosis of ptsd, but I suspect that needing confirmation of a criteria a trauma, which...
Then this is the stuff you should raise with her, rather than problems with the fixed number of appointments. It’s often helpful to work through these issues.
But for me? It sounds like the transition to her new clinic simply hasn’t worked for you. If that’s the case? I’d personally probably...
Planned, fixed amounts of therapy, like 10 sessions, are very normal where I am. A high proportion of people who go into therapy here do it via a fixed number of sessions.
It may feel like …, but it’s a legitimate way to offer therapy.
It’s okay if that doesn’t work for you - find a new T who...
Naive Sideways would totally buy the line that the US has gone into Iran to prevent an imminent nuclear threat. This version of me would probs need to forget that Operation Midnight Hammer was a thing…!
Pragmatic Sideways would probably assume that this is about oil, like Venezuela was about...

If it was that simple, PTSD wouldn’t even be a thing! This experience has had this impact on you - you didn’t choose it to play out this way, but it has, and that’s a very human thing.
Yep, done a lot (like…a LOT!!) of inpatient treatment. In public and private hospitals...
Be patient. Rushing her because of how you’re feeling, because you’re impatient, because you want…will make it worse. If she wants you to wait a month? Do that.
Feel you. I’m approaching mid-semester, and struggling to focus on the giant essays that are due imminently, never mind finals which come next.
Student services at most universities have different forms of disability support, and can usually steer you in the direction of special consideration...

@SeanPeter - this forum is a peer-support forum. There’s plenty of genuine goodwill from peers, but it’s not a space that is equipped for supporting folks experiencing a mental health crisis.
Your suffering is valid, and you are worth getting crisis support for. Please reach out to...

Sorry, I wasn’t able to identify it from your post - did you experience a Criteria A trauma at some point?
Definitely do this. PTSD or not, you’re carrying a boatload of stuff there, which is exactly what we pay them to help us with, yeah?
