Well let me start off by saying I have more than one diagnosis. I have schizophrenia and ptsd. For my schizophrenia I have to take meds and talk therapy won't do a thing. For my PTSD I find that therapy works best. Using the coping skills my therapist is teaching me I don't even have to take my...
As terrible as your situation is now you have to remember it is temporary and suicide is permanent. I have been suicidal myself many years ago and I attempted and nearly succeeded. I recently thought about it for the first time in years (15 years) and all the issues and situations I had back...
I am highly functioning and still have schizophrenia. The thing with schizophrenia is if it is left untreated it can get a lot worse. It is best to be honest with your doctor and get treatment if necessary.
I'm not a doctor but it does sound like you might have PTSD. I hope you consider seeing a therapist or going to a support group. If you are in the USA look up NAMI as they run support groups for people with mental illness. I have done both and it helps tremendously. All the best to you.
I have binge eating disorder. So much of what you said sounded like me. I have been to a treatment center and did a full program and I no longer binge but I still eat too much and have a weight issue.
It feels like no matter what I accomplish I will always feel like a failure because of my...
Mike when I have needed legal advice in the past I post my question on avvo. It's a website that allows lawyers in your area to answer your question. You get to post anonymously and if you like one of their answers you can contact that lawyer. Dead Link Removed
I can relate as I don't have much structure in my day myself. One thing I started doing lately that has helped is getting up early each day and going to bed at a reasonable time. That might be the first step in adding structure in your life. Maybe try doing that for a week or two before you do...
I was in a car wreck last March and it's taken me these 10 months of therapy to even start to drive on the highway. I feel like in another year I will be "normal" again. It takes time but I think there is recovery. Best of luck to you. By the way the therapist that helped me the most was one...
I would ask your therapist if they are familiar with CBT and DBT coping skills and if they can help to teach you some of them. These skills make it much easier to deal with future and current stresses.
How about a job that doesn't require lots of human interaction. Like a janitor. In my area if you are a janitor for a government office you get some really nice benefits.
I have had the same issues with work but I have another mental illness. I always think people are plotting against me. I don't know how to get over it.
Well for mine since it was driving she suggested I take my mom with me and have her count down every 2 minutes. She told me not to commit to the whole trip but to say to myself, "I will drive for 2 minutes". Then in my drive by myself I was supposed to use markers in the road not the whole...
They sound like they have serious issues. They don't even know you to call you a "dirty whore". It's just an insult commonly thrown around to insult and put down women. If you were overweight they would have said, fat pig. It really has nothing to do with how you actually are as a person.
That...
Yes a specialist would def help. I went to a general therapist for 10 months and nothing. I went to a phobia specialist just a few times and I am already starting to get over my phobia.
After my car accident I developed a phobia of driving on freeways. It took a year of therapy and small exposures on side streets but I have driven this week and last week twice on the freeway. I plan on driving to an appointment this Friday.
I would say exposure therapy is what works but don't...
