    Furthering the Knowledge of PTSD

Hi Catherine, I'm also a third year BSc (Hons) Psychology undergraduate in the UK, also doing a study related to PTSD. My dissertation is investigating overgeneral memory (OGM), a psychological phenomena commonly found in PTSD; and investigating this with personality, analytic thinking, and...

    Free Writing 9th February

Hi 2quilt How are you? I am not sure why you asked, but I hope you don't mind that I won't answer those questions... it's just not a road I want to go down. My thinking was more about daring to think about my issues, freeing the mind in order to deal with things; rather than death and...

    Asian People and Dog Walking

Gosh sounds like it's all very uncomfortable just taking your dog for a walk! A lot of people are scared of dogs, my mum is phobic of them. There's been a lot of publicity the last year in England about dogs that attack as well. But this cultural aspect is interesting... I notice a difference...

    Free Writing 9th February

DISCLAIMER: This post is my 'free writing'. I sometimes free write, when I'm investigating my own thoughts about something. This post involves touchy (thus controversial) subjects, such as suicide, and are just me discussing my own thoughts around the aspect of suicide notes, in relation to...

    Poll Anger: Road Rage

I voted sometimes. In driving lessons my driving instructor used to get a bit scared! But there were times he was just as mad as me, and hell I'd be up so close to that car's backside, following them all the way up the road (or alternatively driving so slowly all the way up the road and then...

Life Beyond Forum - You Can Too

Okay...I don't want this to get out of hand... I'm fed up with bad feeling on this forum, and obviously this post is, for whatever reason, doing this already. HOWEVER...I'm going to ignore any arguments for my own sake, and take all the positives from this. Because I can choose to do this...

    Information Required On CPNs

Hello Richard! :hello: Hello friend! Good to see you posting! (Richard is my very good friend and is the only person off this forum who knows about my PTSD and supports me with it... I keep telling him to join the carer's section!) What is the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health? I've never...

Beyond PTSD Introductions - Who Are You?

i love this post. I want more people to post about themselves. It's so nice to read about you all as a person, rather than a PTSD sufferer.

dljwhitewolf Moderated - Non-Conformance To Editorial Policy

I have to agree... I'm sorry to say this Donna-Lynne and this isn't against you as a person... but I simply couldn't understand a fair few of your posts. Not all of them, but a few. The lack of paragraphs made it really hard for me to read. That's why I haven't been able to reply and try to help...

Hypervigilance - How To Not Be Scared

Thanks Captrn1.... appreciate the advice, thank you. I will try my rose incense sticks, candles, and light music on headphones when the anxiety starts to rise before it gets full blown like before... that could help keep it at bay I guess? Thanks

    Information Required On CPNs

Hi MS... No problems. No. The only way you can be forced into taking medication is if you are sectioned, and you can only be sectioned if you are deemed to be a threat to your life or someone else's (and trust me, it's actually quite difficult to get sectioned). I refused all medication...

    Information Required On CPNs

Glad if I've been any help :) Come back and let us know how it went with the CPN. I have a lot of experience with Community Mental Health Teams in relation to myself, and also my father, so I'll be interested to see how it goes...

Poll Substance Abuse - Did Illegal Drugs Help You?

I've taken skunk more to help me to cope in the past. But at times I have also used solvents, magic mushrooms, speed, and cocaine. On the whole, I don't think drug use is really the answer though.

    Information Required On CPNs

Hi MS... A CPN is a Community Psychiatric Nurse (never heard of county, but perhaps that's the term where you are?) who is basically like a nurse on a hospital ward, except it is for mental health issues and working within the community (though they do work on inpatient wards also). Like all...
