    No Control

Sorry, but re-read above and wanted to add something else: Because you really do have choices, you can regain some control which helps all by itself. Like any battle plan, you have a plan A, B,C,D, etc, and especially a E&E plan (escape and evasion/extraction). You would never go out on a...

    No Control

Oh, hell yeah that is familiar territory for me! Always keep in mind that your PTSD is no excuse for hurting your loved ones. Once you know you have it, you know how it works and how you work, you have a couple of choices: You can say f*ck it, and have a pity party for yourself. You can...

    Emdr

Thanks Jimmy. I'm going to try EMDR first since that's what my therapist wants to do. Brainspotting sounds interesting though.

    Emdr

Thanks Jimmy. At least now I know better what to expect. I've been avoiding the trauma re-visiting thing. I've been avoiding a lot of house cleaning. Hopefully this will help. If anyone has stayed on long enough to describe their experiences and feels like they can talk about it, I would be...

    Emdr

Gents, I'll be starting EMDR this week. I'm skeptical. Can someone with experience with this describe their experience with this? I understand Jimmy's comment regarding finding the right treatment fit, I was just wanting to hear if anyone has had positive results? Thanks

    Required Reading

Yes, absolutely. This book is what eventually led me to seek therapy. This book is written from the perspective of a Viet Nam vet. I would read it again, but I gave my copy to another vet. I need to go buy another copy.

    Action Poetry By Guebuddha Che

Thanks Che, that was really beautiful. I turned to zazen when I got back. It saved my life. Now I'm studying the Four Foundations of Mindfulness to better learn where my stress points are. You might like this poet also, if you haven't already heard of him.

More Va Spit And Polish Via Cnn

I agree Jimmy. I don't think anyone wants to feel this way. I'm so damn grateful for any good days now. I get tired of acting like I'm happy because that's what a normal person is expected to be, but it's better than just being a bummer to all my family and co-workers. Her story lets me...

    What Is Combat PTSD?

Yeah I understand. So far I am exactly 4 hours into researching this thing and I'm looking for anything I can get my hands on. I appreciate the perspective adjustment.

My personal favorite. Hung this one in my office until my boss had royal tantrum over it.

    What Is Combat PTSD?

This is very interesting. Are you aware of anything published on the topic? I was diagnosed today, my father was a combat vet who should have been diagnosed, my grandfathers too, etc. etc. This kinda sheds a whole new light on "family of origin."

    Here Goes ....

Hi folks. I don't really like talking about myself, but given the subject, it sounds appropriate. I'm a former EOD guy that left and joined a civilian agency working in the same capacity. I was deployed to Iraq back in 2005. A number of my former soldiers were killed or wounded in Iraq or...
