Sufferer Hello people, i’m a survivor of childhood sexual abuse

Thanks for the welcome. I need to talk to others with PTSD. I feel so frustrated with the medication not helping and the therapy only keeping me alive from day to day. Something has to change.

    Eft/tapping for anxiety

I have experience with Emotional Freedom Technique. I don't have a script for it because when I do it my therapist is doing it as well and she leads me. I don't tap alone because I find it to be too hard to focus on it. It does help with anxiety and sometimes even with body memories.

Rocking back and forth - any rockers here?

I'm totally a rocker and I'm not shy about it. If I'm upset I rock. It helps.

Does seroquel help get rid of flashbacks?

Hello, I'm at the point where I'm desperate to get help with flashbacks. My psychiatrist's specialty is PTSD and she put me on Seroquel. It's supposed to help the psychotic aspects of flashbacks but I'm taking 200 mg a night and still having flashbacks, they've been mostly during the day...

Sufferer Hello people, i’m a survivor of childhood sexual abuse

Hello, I'm a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and have severe PTSD. I'm currently on disability for it. I'm just looking for people to help me on my road to recovery.

    Should I Go On Disability?

Well, let me start by saying that I am the exception to the rule. I only had a therapist, MSSW LCSW, and an advanced practice nurse who prescribes my medication for me. I didn't have an MD, so they (social security) sent me to their doctor. I was approved on the first try. The important...

    I Am Cured!?!

I know what you mean! I feel better for a couple days, and then everything comes back. It's so confusing. I wish I could be symptom free for a year! Maybe then I could go back to work.

    Single Mom With Ptsd

So, I'm a single mom of a ten year old boy (well, he'll be ten at the end of March). I find that I do everything in my power to make sure that he doesn't know how my PTSD is effecting me. He is the most important thing in the world. I homeschool him, so he gets to see me 24/7, so some of my...

    Suicidal With A Child

Is there anyone else out there who has suicidal thoughts and is also a parent? I would never kill myself, because my son needs me. I'm a single mom, but I still feel suicidal sometimes. I feel so guilty for feeling that way. If my son wasn't alive, I wouldn't be alive. Then there is also...

    Nothing Lasts Forever

I went from feeling good about my therapy to wanting to die. It seems like I can't escape my past. I know that I have to live for my son.

    Yay! Therapy Is Working

I have had therapy twice this week, and while it was hard to get through the EMDR, I did it. Let me tell you, it was worth it. I haven't had body memories all day, and no anxiety. I know it's only one day, but you have to start somewhere, right? Yippeeeeeee

    Outside With My Therapist!

This is awesome! My T has me walk when I'm doing EMDR! I'm glad you found someone who is so good. Moving and physical exercise can be VERY therapeutic.

Does The Age And Qualification Of Your Therapist/counsellor Really Matter?

If you don't fully trust your therapist, it's really hard to make any progress. Can you get someone to see you weekly? Anyone who knows EMDR for your type of trauma?

    Anyone With Photographic Memory?

http://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/photographic-memory I was wondering if anyone else has early trauma (starting in childhood) who also has a photographic memory. I have a photographic memory and so my flashbacks are really detailed and very real. I also have a traumatic...

    Lingering Nightmares & Hallucinations...?

I have nightmares at least 3 nights a week. They are really bad, and if I wake up, they can cause flashbacks. I understand where you are coming from. I recently started EMDR because I think it may help, however, I've spent most of my years in therapy avoiding the topic. We'll see what...

I have an idea...text your message to us, to your therapist. I think it will help them understand where you are right now. Just an idea.

People Pleasers - Are They Also Your Problem?

Maybe it's possible that your brother is trying to create an illusion for himself, that your family is actually loving and normal, because he never really experienced it. I am personally a person pleaser because I'm so afraid of the retaliation of I don't please those around me, including my...

    Can anyone recommend...

Never mind. My therapist said that my dissociating was PTSD related, and therefore carries the diagnosis of PTSD, not some dissociative disorder.

    Can anyone recommend...

A good book on the full spectrum of disassociative disorders? All I can find are books on DID.

    2nd Emdr Session

I did it! I made it through a second EMDR session and I didn't die or anything. Pretty amazing stuff. I had no idea what it was going to be like, and while it's not fun, it is helping me. I dissociate, so I need it to be done a little differently, but my therapist is amazing. I don't know...

    Ssdi Approved!

My SSDI was approved after only 6 months! I got it based on the severity of my PTSD. I am so happy! My back pay is outrageous. I can put it in savings, and maybe buy my son the lego death star that he wants so badly. Things are good!

    Home Schooling My Son

I started homeschooling my son a couple of weeks ago, and he's doing so much better, it's amazing. It's such a relief to see him have success in his studies and pride in what he is accomplishing. I wish I had done this three years ago!
