Hi, yes that is what I told them...I don't take meds (and surprisingly they didn't seem pushy about that). But yes, they said these people would contact me to ensure that I am following up and going in the right direction (as defined by them).
Thanks for replying.
This is what frightens me...the reason I was in hospital was because they found a note expressing such sentiments ("si"). Things are still bad for me...not to *that* point...but I am so frightened that I need only say one thing, make one mistake...and I'm taken away.
Hey Lizio, thanks for replying. I'll certainly be polite, and try to appear cooperative...but the fact that a door has now been opened which allows people to dictate my life...makes me so painfully aware of my "second class citizen" status. I will try to be nice, and hope they just back...
Questions for any Aussies around...
@Lizio (no idea if you can shed any light on this?)
So, when the hospital people discharged me last night, they said I will be getting a call from the community mental health team to check up that I go back to seeing my T regularly (which is extremely...
hi @shimmerz - nope nothing like that at all...I don't know if its standard procedure or whether two cars got there by "luck" - mercifully at least I didn't argue back too much
Hi guys @Intrepid - yeah, that sounds like a good idea...unfortunately I find writing quite cathartic...that'll certainly teach me.
@JEKBreatheandBelieve honestly, I doubt I'll be organised enough to date things...plus that could be a double-edged sword.
I had one missed call and one text...
I have to write something about this, as I'm just so freaked out.
My ex-partner found a note that I had written in a sketch book months ago, which was when I was in a spectacularly low period. Understandably he freaked out - but, he called the f*cking cops!!!
I wake up to about 10 policeman...
Hi, thanks for this. Perhaps this was partly it...but he knows that I am assertive, and have no issue confronting this...e.g. in "real life" I confronted my father re: his continued violence against my mother, which was terrifying but worth it.
So, my T knows I'm capable on that front...but...
Hi @Lizio - I don't think his aim was to try and get me to actually be violent (uh...least i hope not, ha!) I think it was about "feeling" angry - which I something I don't really do well apparently. I think this is part of the "somatic experiencing" stuff????
Totally agree...certainly never an...
Hello,
I'm so sorry you're going through such a rough time. I can relate.
Is your T proposing a specialised trauma place, or a general inpatient ward? If it's the former, then maybe that could have some merit (assuming this is done on a voluntary basis).
If he's proposing a general inpatient...
Hi...
Bear with me...
In the last session I had with my T...he was asking me to literally imagine, re-enacting an abusive situation that happened at home when I was a kid (I used the example of the first time my father hit my mother).
He was trying to get me to imagine, getting him back, such...
Reasonably good article for the SMH...

So, to actually answer the original question in this thread...I've been diagnosed with:
- Mood disorder NOS;
- Major Depression;
- Borderline Personality trait (splitting)
- "potential narcissistic trait" - though this was never explained to me what it is, or why they thought that.
on the whole...
Just finished watching...wow...when "daniel" is asked about what the voice in his head is (i.e. if it's himself, or a third party) - he replies that "he" (the voice) is simply a chemical imbalance in his brain...to which the Doctor seems delighted...
The only hitch being of course, that there's...
Yeah, it's the "Rosenhan experiment" aka "being sane in insane places" - speaks volumes about confirmation bias by clinicians and MH professionals in inpatient settings.
@Lizio - literally watching episode one right now...omg, this is frightening...the girl in the programme who is hearing voices, keeps repeatedly talking about all "the bad stuff" that she remembers from childhood....but no discussion or questioning on what that bad stuff even is!?!
I'm going to...
Totally agree...I think back over the amount of opportunities that someone could have figured this out...but never did:
- The police didn't connect the dots when I ran away from home at thirteen (pretty serious, I hitchhiked across the country);
- The teachers at my school knew all about this...
Hi @Lizio - nope not seen that...might look into it...but might be too upsetting. Hospital reminded me greatly of being at home as a kid and not in a good way.
The psychiatry profession I stay away from...psychologists I'll speak to...but with clearly defined limits.
@Lizio - hey, I just watched that episode of Q&A...it was good, but one point that was disheartening was when Fay Jackson pointed out the elephant in the room, that "trauma" is usually the primary driver behind most "mental illness" - not one person clapped.
As much as everyone was passionate...
hi @joeylittle - there's one long term study called the Harrow study...the best plain english book, is the one I mention above.

Thanks Lizio.
Ha...it's precisely the same in the US...(I'm back in Sydney now) it was literally a pre-condition of them agreeing to discharge me that I was taking the meds. It was strange, they seemed personally insulted by the idea that someone would disagree with their analysis and not want...
I think a really big part of the problem, especially in the US, is that the "chemical imbalance" mantra is the focus of most psychiatrists. During an inpatient hospitalisation in NYC, I had reams of them trying to impose this dogma on me and my family:
- you have a physiological illness - this...
