Childhood Trauma and PTSD Birth Plan

Thank youuu, I know, plans help but they totally get thrown out the window when things change (and a lot can change in birth)

Childhood Trauma and PTSD Birth Plan

I’m working on a birth plan that will specifically inform my midwife team on my triggers and what to do or not to if I get triggered. Is there anything else I should add? So far this is what I have: Trauma and PTSD Birth Plan Background: Childhood sexual abuse survivor, with PTSD, anxiety...

    Childbirth and disassociation?

Thank you 🙏 I so hear you on the wedding vs. marriage and labor vs. child thing, that’s my mindset too.

    Childbirth and disassociation?

Oh yes, I was recommended a child birth class but I decided to just do my own research instead.

    Childbirth and disassociation?

That sounds interesting, for those of you suggesting music, you and @Friday what about sensory overload? With everything going on with your body, multiple people, etc is sensory overload likely? I mean everyone is different but I’m not sure about playing music

Haha, yes pain 😂😂😂 What is lamaze classes? I’m intrigued by your story ❤️ I’ll go looking for it later when I have the brain capacity

    Childbirth and disassociation?

Thank you, all of this is really helpful actually. I'm working right now on a birth plan specifically related to trauma/ptsd, because I know I need that stuff written down so I don't have to verbally say much if I do get triggered. But once again, lucky for me, home birth with small staff...

    Childbirth and disassociation?

Sounds about right xD lucky for me, I have a small team who will respect whatever I say, so like I can tell them all to leave the room, or shut the f*ck up, etc. Wow, that's pretty badass that you broke his hand, but I'm also sure you felt bad xD

Study Pain reprocessing therapy for chronic pain

Yeah, I'm mixing several ideas in this conversation xD Besides just oppressive jobs, a lot of people have their identity based in being ill/in pain (this isn't automatically a bad thing, some people have had their condition their entire life and being healed is a scary new identity to forge)...

    Childbirth and disassociation?

Any of you that have given birth, did you disassociate while giving birth? I'm 36 weeks pregnant (or so, it's been hard for me to keep track lol) so really approaching. I'm having an unmedicated natural home birth. I'm doing my research on breathing. I'm kinda worried about having a bad...

Study Pain reprocessing therapy for chronic pain

Yeah, I don’t look at it as black and white. Some chronic pain and illnesses is rooted in trauma and emotional issues but some is physical. I think some physical issues are developed after years of stored up emotion/trauma. I also don’t think you could study this very accurately because it has...

Study Pain reprocessing therapy for chronic pain

Aw, I love that. Yeah, it’s a series of ideas I’ve seen and thought about for years. I really think it’s true, your mind runs everything, for better and worse.

Study Pain reprocessing therapy for chronic pain

Yeah, I completely believe this. I think undealt with trauma and emotions are often stored in the body physically. But when you try to explain that to people they look at you like you’re nuts. There’s charts like this that show where exactly trauma and emotions get stored...

Why Are People Consumed By Politics?

Mark Mansen says people are wired to give a f*ck about something and some people aren’t intentional about what they give a f*ck about so it’s whatever they hear or see rather than actually doing something with their time and energy to make a difference in the world. I think about this a lot...

what do you *do* with the content of your flashbacks?

I’m kinda late to this thread, but I will usually write about it, or paint. I have an abstract painting style so it tends to capture the emotion and sometimes shapes and stick figures.

Boyfriend and triggers - Tell me your experience, how you deal with it, what helps and what doesn't.

I'm looking back at this and so happy and proud of how far we've come in a short amount of time. @Friday we had our wedding in April 2023, and our honeymoon was in a cabin in the mountains with a hot tub on the back porch *smirk* *wink* At first, I always locked the bathroom door, even if I was...

Someone help me sort this out - Marriage, Pregnancy, Hormones, Depression, & Trauma

True as heck Tbh I invalidate others for hormonal-related emotional problems too lol. Like on my period, I’m pretty much the same as when I’m not, so when women are all like “Ugh I’m on my period” I’m like bitch you get it 20%-25% of your life, get used to it xD

Anyone else wake up multiple times throughout the night?

But whyyyyy is walking up through the night a ptsd thing and whyyyy does it change lol, I’m just wondering. I understand nightmares and stuff but the randomly waking up is strange to me. But most people I’ve known in real life definitely wake up in the night.

Someone help me sort this out - Marriage, Pregnancy, Hormones, Depression, & Trauma

You’re so right… I guess I mean I invalidate/gaslight myself because hormones aren’t like a real reason to be upset it’s like a “get over yourself” kind of thing lol but that has to do with growing up with every mental issue being dismissed with “you’re overtired/hungry/hormonal, get over...

Someone help me sort this out - Marriage, Pregnancy, Hormones, Depression, & Trauma

Reflecting on these diagnosises, which do you feel are most accurate? Autism, RAD, schizoid personality disorder, (or other?)? There’s a lot of overlap, and sometimes not all diagnosises “stand the test of time”.

Someone help me sort this out - Marriage, Pregnancy, Hormones, Depression, & Trauma

That’s wild, I figured she was an asshole not hormonal as well 😳 It’s hard to manage mental health 😥 like people say that but what do ya do about it 😫 It’s amazing how survival is innate. Do you like not cry anymore?

Someone help me sort this out - Marriage, Pregnancy, Hormones, Depression, & Trauma

That shit is terrifying. Honestly crazy You aren’t dead? I guess it’s easy to invalidate hormones, being a woman and all. I’m a relatively rational/logical person so I’m like “hormones aren’t real”.

Anyone else wake up multiple times throughout the night?

Yes, like soft music (helps sometimes to fall asleep), chamomile tea, yoga before bed, etc

Anyone else wake up multiple times throughout the night?

Thanks haha and you’re right 😂😂😂 It can just change for seemingly no reason? Is there a reason?
