Drew, I appreciate your sentiment, though all was not lost as I gained valuable information all the same. I'm all about gaining information and being open-minded enough to hear all of it, whether or not I agree in the end (or whether or not we change what we're doing). When I came to all of...

I LOVE that all of you care so much! I wish I had the time to respond to each of the new postings, but unfortunately I don't. So, here's a blanket reply and I'll try to address everything that was said: First, thanks to whoever suggested finding someone who can assist in both the MD and...

Right. I agree. I don't think he expects me to only pay attention to him. I think it is an insecurity thing, with an ex-wife who cheated on him with the computer. PTSD is exacerbating the symptoms of his insecurity. He seems to quickly turn around emotionally these days, but that's probably...

Solara, I AM indeed taking all of this and everyone's replies VERY seriously. Of course this isn't about what I want. It's about US. It's about HIM. I desire nothing more than to see him not struggle. He is constantly desiring to be released of the torturous dreams he has, no matter what...

Awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing your experiences. Yes, if anyone got the impression that melatonin is for nightmares, it is not. My man takes something for that (still), which also makes him groggy, as (according to him), it contains antihistamine or something of that nature. It seems...

    General Herbals And Meds

Sounds a lot like my man's issue. Melatonin is something that our body creates to help us sleep. More is created when the room you're in is completely dark. Any light, or even getting up to go to the bathroom in the night, and turning on a light will disrupt the formation of melatonin in your...

I must say to everyone who is responding and to those who want to respond, but haven't - yet. :-) I appreciate all the advice, even those of you who aren't throwing roses my way. I am a rare breed who actually LIKES to hear all comments and advice. lol All I ask is that it is done in...

Thanks Solara....as I stated earlier, I did check with drug interactions and I did note that there was a Sam-e/seratonin issue. I also spoke with many people who took some of the same antidepressants he has been on that also took Sam-e with wonderful results. I'll tell you what....I'd take...

Thank you. Good point. Great idea too. I will check into an herbologist. That didn't occur to me, but I'm glad you mentioned it because I should know better. :-/ Oh, and thanks for letting me know melatonin works for you. It's good to hear. :-)

Yes....I'm concerned about that too. That is why we are not doing that. The only one he stopped was the sleeping pill and that was an as-needed pill anyway. He is now taking melatonin, which is a naturally produced chemical we all make anyway.

Ooops! I probably did. I was rushing to get them all on here before he woke up and got upset that I was online. I didn't realize that Zolpidem was the Ambien. I must have missed the one he IS taking and listed that one instead. Or, he's only on 5 meds instead of 6. I don't keep track - he...

Yes, I did say I am doing this. What constitutes qualified? I am a common-sense thinking person. No I'm not a doctor. Sorry I'm sensitive to this, but my son had a LOT of medical issues over his lifetime and I have found time and time again that common sense prevailed over a doctor's...

I did research them as far as interactions go. I found nothing. So far there are no adverse affects. Most herbs don't have side effects or cannot be overdosed. I say MOST. I know there are some that do and can be overdosed.

Thanks!! I get them at Vitacost. Anyone who uses my name as a referral gets $10 off (and I do too). No idea how to do that though. I just saw that little deal thing in my last order. No worries if you don't want to use my name. It's actually Jennifer Varberg. The "Jen L" is my soon to...

Thanks for the compliment! Also, we do Bragg's cider vinegar....thanks for the suggestion of making it taste like lemonade!!!! I never knew that and I gotta say, as much as I'm for getting my ph under control, I hate it. Gonna try that!!!

Hey! :-) Was wondering what herbals worked for you, if any and what your experience has been with them. My man was on 7 medications when I met him. He is down to a mere 6, but I have started him on a host of vitamins and herbs and stuff. Some seems to be working, others not so much. Need...

I just re-read my post..and man is it disjointed. Sorry about that. I'm a little distracted that I won't get all my thoughts out before he wakes up.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome! I would have been on sooner, however, we got into a fight last night about me being on the computer too much! lol I get on because it's my lifeline. Not only to PTSD help, but to a social life. I know NO ONE in this state, as I've totally given all of me...

    Other Research Brought Me Here

I'm new here too, but had to say that I would love to see more info (fantasy books to informational websites and everything in between!) on NON-combat PTSD. My honey got his from doing cases on sexual crimes involving small children. He is not a violent PTSD sufferer (the stereo-typical PTSD...

Hi! My name is Jen and I am in a relatively (albeit intense!) relationship with someone who has non-combat related PTSD. A little about me: I just moved from Michigan to Missouri. I am recently divorced, was a stay-at-home mom to two kids (one adopted at age 7), homeschooled them for the...

    Help I Think I'm Delusional

Hey Sunflowerchild..I'm new here but had to respond quickly... I don't think it's delusional, so much...especially since you seem to know the triggers and what you're doing, albeit after the fact. My only suggestions would be: #1, don't give up all your hard work and advancement. That's...
