Your kids need you, so ignore that case worker's rudeness. Those who don't have a mental illness don't understand the struggles we go through on a daily basis. One step at a time. First, try to file the paperwork for disability.
@Silver, it's a combination of both. I have GAD and I'm anxious about doing EMDR with a new therapist. The anxiety has been so bad that I'm seriously thinking of requesting a medication change. I honestly think that if we treat the anxiety, at least temporarily, I will have a better chance...
So I started seeing an EMDR therapist the beginning of May. Before I saw her, I checked to see if she was listed on the EMDR website, which she was aND it was verified that she had completed both training parts of EMDR. I definitely like her, as she is very quick to alter what isn't working...
I once had an issue with a therapist in which she said something that really upset me. I swore I would never go back to her! But I decided to collect my thoughts and discuss it with her. She sincerely apologized and acknowledged that she screwed up. She offered to refer me to another...
Thanks everyone.
I discussed this with my CBT therapist today, and she was concerned. I think she thought I was going to ditch EMDR . I explained to her that was not my intention, but because the EMDR therapist and I have only met twice since the beginning of last month, I'm definitely...
At times I have tried to hide my anxiety, but the physical symptoms are so strong that I usually can't hide it for very long. I would definitely mention it to your therapist tomorrow, We don't always know what is causing our anxiety, and part of a therapist's job is to help us figure it out...
So, I've met with my EMDR therapist twice now. The first session was mostly an intake, which is what I expected. We agreed that we would try to lower my anxiety level before starting the actual EMDR process. I also have a CBT therapist, who has spoken with the EMDR therapist, and both of...
I know you said your therapist is very busy, but I'm sure he'd rather you call him when needed instead of doing something harmful to yourself. If you tell him you called the crisis line and found no support there, he may have another suggestion. Don't give up on yourself!
Yikes! I'd definitely have some concerns! Maybe you could go to your next session and see how it goes? I only suggest that due to your long history together. But, honestly, if you feel you will be triggered, then it may be time to look for another therapist. You don't want to risk undoing all...
So far I've had 1 session with an EMDR therapist. In addition to PTSD, I also have GAD. My anxiety was very high during that first session; I just couldn't get comfortable. But I don't think it was due to anything the therapist said or did. It was just because my anxiety was through the...
That's terrible!! I'm glad you didn't let his carefree attitude prevent you from looking for another therapist. That takes a lot of courage and strength, so good for you! Good luck with the new therapist.
