Coming Out Of Dissociation, Depersonaliation And Derealisation.

@Ms Spock, I've had similar experiences of coming back in. For me, it feels less like a shock, but does leave me feeling nauseous. It's only been recently that I've been able to notice enough to recognize when I'm dissociating. Sometimes now, I even notice when the feeling starts to shift...

How Best To Talk To Roommate?

I've lived with my roommate for two and a half years. We're similar in a lot of ways, but different enough to be interesting. We've had only minor 'conflicts' things such as who's pan is whose and who should write a check to who on whatever expenses. We recently moved out of our old place (in...

    Therapy Book Reccomendations

@falling_wave, I'm a huge reader and currently out of books right now. I'll definitely check it out. My two favorites. "The Body Keeps the Score" by Bessel Van der Kolk. "Healing Developmental Trauma" by Laurence Heller. (Haha, my book choices speak quite a bit to CPTSD).

No One Knows I'm In Therapy - Therapist Wants Me To Tell

@jandal. You could be right: maybe it is for her own peace of mind, but probably because she cares about you. My first thought is what if she gets sick or hurt and couldn't see you. You said you'd come to adjust and be okay, but that initial time might really hurt especially if there wasn't...

Writing An Honest Dating Profile As A Ptsd Sufferer

@Justmehere, it sounds like your therapist is encouraging you to date, but also you're thinking a lot about dating, what to write, whether someone could handle things, if you're in the right place. If you do decide to make a profile, I think it's honest to say, I have a lot of contradictions...

What Compelled You To Choose Your Particular Avatar?

Mine's a person walking on a rainy boardwalk. When I get distressed I go out for walks at night, and I really like the idea of beautiful moments in the midst of storms.

    Therapist Trying To Help

@hodge, I'm very interested by this thread. I've thought a lot about how mindfulness was split from its original Buddhist origins. So the psych's teaching it don't actually know the material in depth. Someone without a deeper practice may teach that mindfulness is your mind becoming void...

I Am Confused By My Psychiatrist Reaction To A Questions. Please Help Me Understand

@Jewels. It sounds like he couldn't handle whatever your question brought up for him. I'd imagine since the two of you are established that you could ask him about counter-transference or, as I've done with my therapist in the past, just tell him you felt he was being weird. It's so...

    Recalling Something, Want Y'all's Opinion

You make a few good points @Justmehere. Like if I had kids, that wouldn't be okay for anyone to do to them and I wouldn't. A lot of time, bodywork gets me thinking about my boundaries. I'm really averse to touch (bodywork sessions are a safe place where I can get practice to reduce that) and...

Also, has anyone heard that term used like that before?

    Recalling Something, Want Y'all's Opinion

I've been having an overall good day with just a few disturbances this evening and I thought of something that hasn't come up before (and maybe is up now because it came up in my bodywork session this week). Someone in my family, maybe my mom or dad or maybe a grandparent, used to grab-a$$ my...

    Emdr And Images

@samson, yes. I've experienced something very similar. I did not get images from EMDR but it kicked up my dreams and I had a dream of being dirty as a child, in the dream I was freaking out. EMDR is definitely intense, I'm glad you're finding a process that works for you. I hope you're able...

    Can Pms Make Anxiety Worse?

Yes. The day before my period, even if I'm feeling great and have been, is typically either high paranoia or si. If I'm lucky enough to realize the calendar (I got an app to help), knowing why helps my anxiety from spiraling. During my period it's mixed, not near as bad as the day before.

The Most Insane Week In A Long While

@KwanYingirl, that's how my roommate and I felt too. We consulted with a lawyer, but we ultimately decided that just getting out and leaving this place behind would be better. @Changeling, Thanks for the response. Your tiny cabin and dog time sounds nice. The only advantages to this place...

Therapist Retiring & Im Feeling Lost

I'm sorry @falling_wave that will be hard especially with you feeling like you might need more assistance right now, but her giving less. I wonder how that will look and if it turns out okay for you, may be easier than you think, or really hard. (Post here! We'll support you). At least she'll...

    Stony Or Smiley Face?

@Dana1010, go with your intuition. If you think you may not be able to relate to her, you're probably right. Only you would know that :). I think those of us who experienced trauma as a result of another human are generally good reads in our interactions. For me, I notice my issues come up...

The Most Insane Week In A Long While

I'm writing to connect and to vent. I have had the most insane, ungrounded, hectic, panicky week I've had in a long while. My roof has been leaking on and off for 2+ years since I moved to my apartment. On Wednesday of last week, my landlord emailed me to say that they had re-rubberized it...

    Chinese medicine, reiki, anyone?

Both reiki and acupuncture have been helpful for me when the practitioner is trustworthy and intuitive. Hopefully, if you were working with the right person, they wouldn't release more than you're ready for. Maybe for acupuncture, consider going to a five elements person because that's more...

    Trusting "me" Or My Therapist

@Mammo, your hesitancy makes total sense. I can identify with that same thing of knowing my inner voice, however flawed/anxious/paranoid, is me and sometimes it's helpful. But, in my therapy thus far, one of the most helpful things said was in relation to this voice. I was telling my reiki...

Dissociation/blocking/losing Track Of A Body Part

That's really interesting and helpful. Is that something that's commonly known in Eastern/alternative medicine, @EarthMother ?

    General Al Anon

I've been to three. My body work person goes and she says she finds them helpful and spiritually growing. I want to like them but I don't. I dislike being around others and the rituals remind me of church (I'm queer and my family was in an anti gay church so religious affiliations are something...

    Sufferer Mindfulness

@ground crew , I started meditating w a Buddhist group abt a year ago. Mindfulness and meditation have been so incredible for me. But mindfulness is a technique from meditation and while you an meditate and being doing anything, for me, I've found a lot of depth through linking the two. Tibetan...
