Does anyone else feel like a fraud sometimes?

LOL holy smokes @Mallaky. I'm not laughing at your process, I'm laughing because it's exactly how I work! I definitely try to hang on to the feel good moments and squeeze 'em for what their worth. It's like when I feel good, I never had PTSD to begin with. BAM! immediate amnesia

Does anyone else feel like a fraud sometimes?

It's hard to explain, but I'll try: Whenever I try to share my story with others, or at least the pieces of it that I remember, or whenever I have an extreme emotional reaction or dissociate in therapy (this happens a lot), I settle down and I start feeling like a fraud and a liar. Like the...

What Are You Feeling Today? Not Thinking, Rather Feeling! Can You Identify Yours?

Edgy and anxious - stepped out of my cave and went out into the world today and didn't accomplish what I set out to. Bit grumped up because of that, ah well. There's always tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day... and the next. Bueller. Bueller.

How Do You Calm Down When You Run Out Of Anxiety Meds?

L-theanine rocks! I drink loads of decaf green tea with is basically l-theanine and antioxidants. If it works for you, you could buy the powder for a fraction of the cost.

    Questioning Diagnosis

My therapist did the same thing with the DSM with me @lostforgottensoul lol Perhaps a more useful way to look at it might be: does carrying a diagnosis of PTSD help you move you towards your goals, or does it hinder you? After all, PTSD is only a label given to a cluster of symptoms and...

    A Helpful Thought For Anxiety.

I can relate to feeling weak when I'm anxious. I live in the US South, where being a man means you ain't afraid of nothin' son. Only them womenfolks and p*ssies is afraid! I'd like to think I'm more mature than that, but for some reason when I feel anxious I feel like less of a man. Silly really.

    Relationship Miscommunication

I'm not married, but I am diagnosed with PTSD, and maybe I can at the very least give you a glimpse into your husband's mindset, because his behavior reminds me of my own when I'm extremely stressed out. In my case, my trauma revolves around power dynamics and feeling powerless in situations...

    Your Day In Emoticons

For some reason I thought the :coffee: was an old man with a white beard shaking his fist and yelling about something. <-- that's how I feel, but thanks for clearing that up for me anyway!:whistling::ninja:

How Do You Calm Down When You Run Out Of Anxiety Meds?

I did a benzo withdrawal two years ago and it was a nightmare. I wish I had support at the time. Good luck! I mitigated some of the withdrawal effect with OTC Benadryl. Apparently antihistamines are good for PTSD (can't post the link but Google it if you're wary) and Benadryl has a sedating...

Anyone Struggle With Anxiety And Exercising Or 'doing Good' For Yourself?

I do powerlifting at home 6 days a week to burn off the stress and I can relate to your fears. I actually tapped into my sense of injustice and rage to get started. It was less about doing something good for myself and more about finding a place to safely express those feelings where I'm not...

    Sufferer Ptsd And Me!

Thanks everybody, I appreciate the warm welcomes! @sonicwhite I also have friction with my family, misplaced anger at my stepdad and my mother. Heck, just yesterday I was lying in bed all morning cursing my whole family, including my sisters! It's like my ego is so scared of everyone that it's...

    Sufferer Ptsd And Me!

Hello internet! I'm a 34 year old man with PTSD, unemployed and living with my parents. I've been in isolation from the world-at-large for a little over 3 years now. I don't speak much with my family, I'm estranged from my friends, and I spend most of my days managing my anxiety and struggling...
