    Horrible neighbor triggers

Hi everyone, I haven't posted in a while here, been in serious therapy last two years and starting to trim down now which has been going really well. But in the last 4 months, I have three nearby rental neighbors that are triggering me to the point of feeling like I might be backtracking a...

Relationship Verbally attacked at the mall, why doesn't he fight back?

SO many good replies on here-wanted to throw in my two cents.... I can't help but feel there is part of you here that maybe subconsciously is angry with your husband for not being the type right now or as is that is willing to be openly defensive of your children and yourself. I hear you...

    Feeling alone

Hey Sarg- A question from a person that has heen there so this is not rooting from judgement but from concern and experience- What clicked with me was your u saying you either looking at the ground or looking at the sky... that to me says you need to ask for some personal time. Whether its go...

    Sex with therapist

Hi Toralu, I think so many of the responses are great here, but because I used to be in abused relationships and through therapy have finally opened my eyes and changed my life, I'm going to take the route of a little tough love, here. This is absolutely to help you, not hurt you. You have...

    Dog with ptsd

I can say that in Colorado (where its dog country) PTSD in dogs is recognized to a degree. The complicated part is as the all familiar Cesar Milan says, the dog is going to take on your behavior- essentially your problems can become their problems, but as others have spoken they can absolutely...

    Comfort items

I love this thread. I dont always bring it to sessions, but if I have a panic attack or get heavily triggered I either grab (or if Im really bad my husband does) either a stuffed seal or my stuffed stingray. We bought both together while visiting the downtown aquarium and despite the people...

The Easter Egg Weekend - What Are You Doing?

So my husband and I started this tradition and its the most hilarious, awesome and best cheer up ever. Every Easter we are reminded by family that we are not following "the rules " for choosing to not go with our parents' forceful view of religion nor having kids so far and 35. We have two dogs...

    Lip-biting-any Others Out Here?

@NoWhereKnowWhere - Thanks for that link- I also do nail picking to where I have nail clippers around so I clip instead of ripping. I pull my hair to the point I need haircuts way more often because it forces split ends. I even sometimes do the eyebrow pulling out like it mentions:banghead: ...

    Lip-biting-any Others Out Here?

I do this along with other certain nervous bad habits when Im out in crowded public places or when Im very stressed from something such as an argument with my husband. Im glad that for you this is very infrequent and not as severe. I start biting enough that it frays the skin a little bit and...

Staying calm when something major happens

I so agree tornadic on July 4th. I even live in a neighborhood where they arent allowed and some house up the street was going absolutely nuts with them, scaring the crap out of me and my dogs so I finally walked my butt up there and told them to respect people who have ptsd and knock it the...

Staying calm when something major happens

I can definitely relate! Everything used to make me jump, I still have my head on a swivel when Im outside of my house, and trust no one I dont know really well. Then several months ago my husband and I heard a huge bang outside of the side of our house and while we both immediately ran out to...

Giving Up My Dog For Adoption?

Another thing to try is this- We live in a state that is very strict as well-- one thing I found out is while pit bulls wont be allowed in certain counties, do some location research and even 15-20 minutes away you can find one that does allow them. I agree with you that its the owners that...

Giving Up My Dog For Adoption?

Hey Lauren, Im a dog lover and used to be a trainer. I have two rescues that are my absolute everything. About ten years ago we had our oldest dog and were looking for apartments. We went to five apartments and every one said that because hes part doberman he is not allowed. At no point did we...

    Ptsd And My Relationship

This thread hasnt been active in a while, but I wanted to say to you that you are so not alone in this. My husband said to me just two nights ago he wishes I would have let him know what he was getting into before we started dating. What a hurtful statement that is to us. What are we supposed to...

Publicly confronted about service dog. a disability isn't fake just because it's invisible. (vent)

I absolutely agree with you, Eagle 3, a specific special needs dog would be SO helpful to me but I ask the same questions -is not worth the drama. For now Im lucky enough to have dogs Ive just badic trained that just are so smart and loving-- like you guys all understand they know when i have...

Publicly confronted about service dog. a disability isn't fake just because it's invisible. (vent)

That's one of the questions I was going to ask all- How many times A, you get asked to let them pet the dog, or B, they just ignorantly and rudely pet it anyway despite all the DO NOT PET writing. I watched a guy in airport line even pet the bomb sniffing dog and then when I was like HEY! The...

I personally use a salve that is used for sled dog's feet when running for my dogs since mine have VERY furry feet and get those painful snow bunches in the middle of the foot, you could check that out too! ;)
