Totally agree Flossy, I am naive as well, but not in all areas of life. I got the impression that you were taking meds only without doing therapy as you never mentioned that. For you to live a life on these meds only seemed such a pity to me, as it is still sort of artificial, and not really...
Wow it is amazing to read this for two reasons; first I am really glad for you and what you achieved, and second the exact same stuff is happening to me since therapy last Friday. To phrase it in therapeutic terms as you say you dont know what happened, this is what they call the third phase of...
I tend to believe more and more that in countries in which therapies are focused on behaviour and thinking this may lead to people using more meds, or meds only. I find that a tragedy. Ptsd is not a thinking disease, but a biological disease at the root. If you would try a different method of...
I never intended to use the word adaptation, as it directly contradicts my second sentence, in which I use individual reaction pattern. Sorry, the mind is not clear today. @Chava thank you for pointing that out :-) Not directly, but from your post.
I really like your thoughts but am not always exactly sure what you mean. I tend to think you are confusing two things; adaptation on an individual level and adaptation on the environmental level. PTSD is an individual reaction pattern to survive extreme stress, and this never had the purpose to...
This is not true at all, as I am almost recovered now from trauma. I find this statement inaccurate, and it is not helpful. With the right therapy, the brain can be rewired through neuroplasticity and recovery is possible.
If I may suggest, discuss it openly. Trust in therapy is so important also for the therapist. If they find out later that you had been doing it covertly, they may not like it for many possible reasons. Privacy matters, trust, honesty; just ideas.
So are our perpetrators. Soul thieves.
Yes, this is true for me too. When I have a place free for a new rabbit, when another has died, and look for a new one I can just go by the picture. I will look at all shelters' websites and I sense through the picture of a specific animal an immediate...
One cool tribe would that be ;) It could be such a much more real and authentic place than the 'BS I am fine' place that we are surrounded by now :arghh;
Beautiful post Muse  You are very intuitive.
Yes absolutely. Cesar Milan has worked with dogs with ptsd from combat, although I assume that is not the ptsd you describe above, the abusive ptsd. Still the dog was highly triggered and anxious, but not broken soul wise.
I have rescue rabbits...
First I would like to say that I really feel very sorry for your situation. I was relieved end of March, when you could pack and go to that inpatient clinic. You come back and now this. I find it unbelievable and devastating.
I agree with joeylittle's first suggestion, and I also wonder if...
I totally agree with you, trauma is so individual and I would only be able to relate to group therapy for trauma to learn certain skills or methods. I simply can not imagine ever doing individual level trauma therapy in a group setting. Expected to share; a violation yes indeed. Expectations in...
Maybe you would relate and find some understanding in the comments below this video. I ran into it, as the guy has some nice video's; this video is not worth it, but when I read the comments, I found them to be valuable comments as if they could have been posted here. These relate more to your...
I have the book by the guy featured in this movie, Joe Dispenza: Evolve your Brain, the science of changing your mind. Very interesting indeed, did not finish entire book yet. Totally believe in quantum physics. Will watch the movie too. Thank you joeylittle.
I just wonder if this is material...
Actually, this would be a good basis to work with SE. Just saying.
PS. As I can no longer edit my long post; it can be hilarious at times too, as you sometimes have no clue what your body is doing or is intending at first.
Thank you Dana, you are welcome. Yes and no to what you write. My therapist trained with Peter Levine in the US, your country :-), and also assisted him, also trained with Steve Hoskins also a big SE guy in your country. A lot of really really good stuff comes from the US, in so many fields. It...
This. To me it is you being stuck in this now. Exactly. Perfect assessment. You are so clever, just the f*cking emotions should drop dead cold.
It is a vicious cycle, an infinite loop, and I believe you used the word 'looping' about yourself in your diary.
It is great you do that, even though as it continues it seems not really able to complete, and a therapist should be able to help you with this.
With regard to an SE therapist, I would at first look into their background, and see if they are a complete trauma therapist, who includes SE as one...
