    Poll Teeth Grinders

*holds up hand* I don't grind my teeth at night, thank goodness, but I do clench my jaw -- stress and anxiety OVERLOAD. I see a masseuse regularly, and she actually works on my jaw muscles for me. I had two custom mouthguards made from a company called Impact. They also make night guards for...

    Panic Attacks & Office Cubicles

They recently tore down the office walls to make a fully open office where I work. I went from my safe little closet of an office -- it was way too small but I had my back to walls, so I was more than okay with that -- and now we're out in the open. In the noise. In all the activity. I can...

    Log Your Daily Exercise

Very nice, Saelben! I managed kickboxing classes on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday last week! I had two bad incidents from accidents (one very crowded class in the room that mimics where my assault happened, and the other when a guy was using way too much room and backed into my...

    Paranoia / trust

I really struggle with paranoia, even on the most mundane of topics. I'm to the point where the only way I can judge it is to ask a friend, and even then I still wonder and toss and turn and ruminate and bite my nails... It's like a switch snaps and suddenly that person, or that group, or that...

Conquering The Dreaded Crowded Kickboxing Class

He surprises me with his insight -- he's protective but makes me do it myself. I'm extremely lucky to have met him in particular, but all of the instructors there are all very positive. It's the old "it takes a village," but in this case it takes a dojo.

Conquering The Dreaded Crowded Kickboxing Class

Thanks, Ragdoll! We forget -- well, at least I do, I don't want to presume to speak for anyone else -- sometimes to take a moment to see just how far we've come. Ten years ago I couldn't have imagined this! One of the reasons that I'm so intent on with the BJJ is the intense in-the-moment...

Conquering The Dreaded Crowded Kickboxing Class

I'm not sure I'd go that far, Lopez lol! Though I wouldn't mind trying a BJJ tournament in a year or so, presuming my recovery team signs off on it. And it's pretty cool that I can include my instructor and the gym community as being part of my team :)

Conquering The Dreaded Crowded Kickboxing Class

Had an awesome realization last night. I started kickboxing in January as a form of social anxiety desensitization and just to get out and about, plus the intense exercise of course. The room is a pair of converted raqcuetball courts that are a white box with blue mats, which mimics in no...

    Log Your Daily Exercise

I managed kickboxing 3 times last week, when my goal was 4. I didn't make the Friday class because when I pulled up, the weird dude that walks around too much and always comes up behind me (one of my triggers) was walking in and I just drove through the parking lot in a moment of weakness -- by...

    Emdr Question

Must be -- my first EMDR session last Tuesday had me in floods. It was supposed to be setting a safe place/baseline, I think, butI was completely unstable the two days following. I know it's not easy but dang! I'm interested to hear from others too.

Your Best Advice For "special Events" Anxiety

I had a friend who built me into the wedding planning so I would have a job to do during the reception which kept me busy and feeling helpful. That kept me in the background and around the edges and busy so I wouldn't overthink. But the bestie and his wife are awesome like that :)
