Hey don't feel bad about saying you have ptsd! :)
I was like that too at the beginning (I have what soldiers get? That's just pathetic) but the mindset doesn't help anything. Everyone has different triggers and nothing is minor if you don't define it that. You know you better than they do!
*hugs*
Hey Liz!
First off sorry to hear what you're going through I know it's rough and all things considered I think you are doing a Marvelous job! *hugs*
If he isn't willing to do therapy or meds there isn't too much you can do (in my opinion, others may disagree). Would he be willing to do yoga or...
Hi Katie! I'm a college student with some scary injuries too- not as bad as yours but bad enough that I know how awful it is. If you ever need someone to talk to about juggling this with school, lemme know!
*hugs!*
Also, I had(have) the same problem with work so I definitely know where you are coming from. Some days I feel like everything is fine and everyone is accepting and then the next I feel that they are shutting me out. Your boss seems like a stellar person and trust me the hiding is way worse than...
I'm doing an overload of courses (6 instead of 5) and two jobs (one in which I've had to save people's lives) and not dealing with it like I know I used to be able to. I'm not saying this to brag but because I know how much it sucks to be so aware of what crazy things you can push yourself to do...
He's in London, Ontario sorry :(
with my first I missed pretty much all of grade 12 second semester-- I think the processing problems can be the worst because it affects emotional stability and self esteem etc.
Are you still in school?
I've had three concussions in like the last year and a half plus PTSD (though it didn't cause it) so I do know what you're going through!
I don't know if this helps but here's how I've found they overlap. Again not a doctor but I do have experience! :)
I don't suffer nightmares of the event...
Hey Joshua I'm a college student too (who has been staring blankly for about an hour instead of doing research). Keep in mind that it isn't you being lazy -- there is much more going on than that! Part of PTSD is feeling tired and upset.
I'm in second year with PTSD, somatoform disorder...
I would get off the Lorazepam first personally. I've heard like everyone else that 2 weeks ( I heard of a month but that was really serious) is the max.
Escitalopram does take a while to have effect. A lot of the meds do. Don't change both at once because then you may have reactions and not...
I have been put on anti-depressant meds for anxiety but it was other stuff too but not depression. Just so you know, Cipralex (escitalopram) takes AGES to work. It took like 2 months for me.
Like @Echo says, there is cheaper in help in a lot of Western countries but additionally you mentioned being in school. Most universities and colleges have free counselling
Hi Robert!
My name is Em and I am 19 too so I really do get what you are going through. And it sucks no doubt about that. I'm in the same situation at work too: appearing to have everything together when your mind is doing a million things at once. The amount that therapy costs really depends...
I know everyone says this about everything but it takes time. My most recent trigger was the beginning of November and it took till January/February for me to feel like myself again
This isn't a slight but maybe if you are still dealing with issues serious enough that you have to be in inpatient care, this may not be the best time to try and remember everything,
Well you can try and trigger them by going places/ doing things that happened when you were repressed if you remember that much. Personally I find that the more I've come to terms with other things, the more I just remember (or when really bad things happen but obviously that is not as good)...
Thanks for all the love guys I will do my best!
Unfortunately I have to keep an 80 avg for my programme and I have two jobs...
@duff that is what I'm doing right now but people are being less than tolerant about it :(
Wikipedia (gets the general idea) as more or less pushing yourself past...
