T says put job search on hold

RusselSue, it's okay not to be currently working at a job since you can't right now, because since you can't, then it's not your fault. Hang in there!

    The Biggest Spider Ever!

Although I don't have a fear of spiders per se, if I saw one in the house that I live in that was real big, it would give me the willies a little bit. I'm glad you had a can of spider bug spray on hand, Changing4TheBest. It's a good thing that you did.

    Comfort in commonality amid chaos

Recovery4Me, I'm glad that you find MyPTSD.com as a site that gives you at least some comfort and helps make you feel grateful. Here in Maine, back in 1947, we had massive fires that burned many towns. But that was way before my time. I've never experienced fires like the ones you are getting...

Other Managing Diabetes And PTSD- Yeah, Right!

I don't have diabetes. And I'm not pre-diabetic either. However, I used to be friends with a guy who drank massive amounts of soda. I told him that he may end up with diabetes someday if he keeps it up. But he told me that he wasn't worried about it. I couldn't get through to him. He...

If You Have A Bad Week With Depression Occasionally, Does That Mean You Aren't Over Past Trauma?

Back in 2002, I was set up with a new psychotherapist at a local community mental health center. Before I saw this therapist, I had been in both individual and group therapy for quite some time. And I felt that I had made a lot of progress in getting over past trauma that I had experienced...

Were You Lucky Enough To Have The First Therapist You Saw Be The Right Counselor For You?

If you have mental health issues and have decided to go into therapy, it's one thing to be set up with a psychotherapist. It's another thing to be set up with a therapist who you think is real good at it. It can take time to find a counselor who you think is the right therapist for you. When...

    Other Seizure During EMDR

I've never had seizures before. But I've had EMDR. I never thought of the idea of the possibility of some people having a seizure during EMDR. I don't remember my EMDR therapist ever asking me if I have ever had seizures before. However, maybe she did, but maybe I just don't remember her...

    What’s the point in therapy?

Annalyn78, I don't think it's fair for your psychiatrist to require you to be in therapy in order for him to prescribe you psychiatric medication(s) because, although many people like myself have found psychotherapy to be helpful, therapy, in my opinion, is not for everybody.

    Anxiety Medications

According to my psychiatrist, the Clozaril I'm on is never the drug of first choice because of the seriousness of the potential side effects. But it's worth the risk to me because it's the best psychiatric pill I've never been on, for me anyway.

Covid/Lockdown accomplishments, have you used the time to your advantage?

Before the virus, I was volunteering at two public libraries, two agricultural farms, and a food pantry. Although I can't volunteer at the libraries right now thanks to the pandemic, I'm still able to volunteer at the farms and the pantry. Focusing on my volunteer jobs is something that has...

Taste of something good, back in the mess

I still like Maine. I've lived in the Pine Tree State for over thirty years. But I may feel that a change for me is necessary someday. StrangeLongTrip, I hope you like moving and living in the state out west that you like. But if it doesn't work out for you, it won't be a mistake, a bad...
