    Afraid Of Sleep

Before therapy & emdr I used to have horrendous nightmares & would avoid sleeping. This was ok until i got to the stage where i was only sleeping 1-2hrs in 24 & it was having an impact on my therapy sessions & recovery. My T suggested i ask my gp to prescribe Amitriptyline, taken at a low dose...

The Small Things In Life. What Makes You Happy?

Spending time with my son, daughter in law & granddaughter as I did yesterday, they live 100miles away so I don't see them as much as I'd like to. We walked on the beach, had lunch & played with Mia, what more could I want. A perfect day!

Citalopram, Has Coming Off Restored Your Energy Levels

HI Everyone Thanks for your replies. It's a tricky one this. I have spoken to my GP & she's agreed that reducing my dose will improve my energy levels. She knows how much I hate taking meds and has been a great support in understanding why. I will start to reduce by taking 40mg/30mg on...

How Did You Sleep Last Night?

Not too badly, but having a bout of insomnia again. I slept 9-1pm on sofa, awake until 3 went to bed & slept until 5.40, lots of dreams & nightmares. I suppose i could go back on Amitriptyline but I'll give a few more weeks, it could just be returning to work after the summer break.

    Anyone Else?

Have any of you tried medication to help re-set your body clock? I have found amitriptyline works really well, when i reached the point of only 2hrs in 24 my psych recommended it. It doesn't knock you out like sleep meds but gives you a deeper sleep, i felt slightly 'off' during the day for a...

Could Fizzy Drinks Contribute to PTSD Symptoms?

I too have problems with drinking too much squash etc. I think most of mine come from it creating sugar highs & lows. I also avoid foods or drinks with E211 in, that gives me headaches & increases anxiety.

After 5 long weeks of school holiday I went back to work today. I am now a 'new' me with a different set of priorities & one of them is not work! After my children work was my priority, I thought i couldn't be without it to keep me going. Well, after a very relaxed break during which i didnt...

    Rough Therapy Session

Hi Heather it sounds as if your T touched on a painful subject for you. I felt the same way when my T asked me the same question, I felt offended that she thought I would have suicidal thoughts even though i knew i needed to talk to her about them. Luckily she gently encouraged me talk about...

    Why Is Emdr So Exhausting?

KP - I've come to the conclusion that it burns many calories, but the side effect of meds means we dont lose weight. I am always starving about 2hrs after therapy & forgot to say that with my coffee comes the largest most calorie laden slice of cake in the cafe!

    Resisting Medication

I didn't want them either but together with therapy I am in recovery. I put myself through unnecessary stress & depression by resisting. To everyone struggling with this decision - if your T or doc suggest them give it a try, you can always come off them & may have everything to gain.
