You Know You Have PTSD When...

When you notice that all the ice cream is gone and get mad at your partner for eating it all. They tell you that they only had a small cup as they watched you eat it all last night. I forget that I eat up all the sweets... Every. Single. Time.

Who Am I? I Feel Like A Million Pieces Glued Together.

And I'm watching those pieces fall off one by one. Actually, it feels more like it's a hundred at a time. I hate to admit it, but I'm scared. I want to get better, but part of me would rather just keep shoving everything back into the depths of my subconscious. Right now, the former seems to be...

You Know You Have PTSD When...

When the best part of your day is coming home to your pets. They never judge me or care that I can't talk about things!

You Know You Have PTSD When...

When you wake up in the morning, drink two cups of coffee, sit down on the couch and fall asleep 15 minutes later. Caffeine doesn't affect my ability to fall asleep, it just makes it easier to stay awake despite the severe exhaustion.

What Are You Feeling Today? Not Thinking, Rather Feeling! Can You Identify Yours?

I'm feeling overwhelmed. Feeling several strong emotions at once. I'm angry at myself for being so weak -- I feel like having PTSD makes me weak and pathetic even though it's not my fault, and I've probably done pretty well for myself when taking everything into consideration. I feel guilty...

    What Made You Happy Today?

After 3 weeks of filling out applications and writing cover letters, I finally have some interviews! :D

You Know You Have PTSD When...

When half of the books you own are about psychology and/or trauma. When, because you're always reading a psych book, your friends start asking if you are(/are planning on) going to school for psychology. When job applications are the most terrifying part of your day. How am I supposed to...

Laughing When Overwhelmed With Negative Emotion

Hmm, that sounds like the most convincing idea, but I wonder why laughter might be a survival instinct... It seems sort of counter-productive seeing as other people don't take it very well.

Laughing When Overwhelmed With Negative Emotion

I've also laughed hysterically in a similar situation... The person was trying to suffocate me and for some reason I just couldn't stop laughing. It was terrifying, yet I was laughing so hard that I probably could have suffocated myself, had it gone on for any longer. :( I think it probably has...

Laughing When Overwhelmed With Negative Emotion

When I don't dissociate I laugh. Anything from anger to fear provoked by someone I'm with, or even empathizing with someone I just saw get hurt, can cause it. It's not a nervous laugh -- It feels like I just heard a really funny joke. I have almost no control over it, and it happens at the worst...

Get Crafty, Show Us What You Can Do

Wow, how did you make them all so... intact? I could never manage to cut snowflakes without them falling apart as I unfolded the paper.

Get Crafty, Show Us What You Can Do

I recently started painting again. It'd been several months since I last picked up a paintbrush. Fortunately, I still drew from time to time, so I wasn't entirely out of practice. Just some acrylic paint on canvas. I wish I had a better camera. The colors are a bit off, and the image curves...

Too Tired And Emotionally Drained To Post..

I usually get too overwhelmed. I'll type out a post, and just delete it. I'm so afraid of sounding stupid, that 90% of what I write doesn't get posted. :nailbiting::(

Why Did You Choose That Username And/Or That Avatar (Or No Avatar At All)?

I chose LittleL because I'm short, and I often feel too small to deal with the world when I'm depressed or anxious. It also factors into my general level of anxiety, as looking up at people all the time can remind me of my childhood and the dependence I had on people who harmed me. The L at the...

You Know You Have PTSD When...

When the colour of the walls changes all of a sudden, and start panicking that you're so insane that you've completely lost touch with reality... And that's when you realize it was a flashback. I promise I'm only a little crazy.

You Know You Have PTSD When...

When you're irritated by something trivial, realise it's not worth being disgruntled about, yet still stay that way for the entire day.

    Flashes Before Bed (mini-nightmares)

I get them really often, both as mini-nightmares and as random bursts of unexplainable anxiety. When I get mini-nightmares as I'm falling asleep, I try using imagery. So, once I get out of it, I usually think of something nice and guide myself trough a dream of whatever nice thing comes to mind...

    Cut Out A Toxic Friendship

Oh gosh, that's good to hear. I guess I shouldn't worry about it as much as I am.

    Cut Out A Toxic Friendship

For over two years, I had a "friend" who would consistently sexually harass me. He's an ex-boyfriend of mine, and I broke up with him because of sexual harassment, but continued to maintain contact with him because of a mutual friend -- our mutual friend was someone I only ever got to spend time...

    Yoga

I cycle a lot, so the physical exertion isn't something I'm too worried about. My partner is going to do yoga with me, so I'm sure we can keep an eye on each others form. :) Self body talk?

    Yoga

Yoga has been something that floated around in my head as something good for stress and health (circulation, flexibility, etc). However, I've only ever tried it once, and while I liked it, I didn't really know about resources to help me continue. Recently, I've developed a bad case of...

    What Made You Angry Today?

The fact that I still haven't been promoted even though I spent money I don't have to get the certification necessary. I haven't been able to pay my rent for 3 months, my co-worker has been telling management that I NEED the money for longer than that, and I'm still not getting the $3/hr raise...

You Know You Have PTSD When...

When you can't avoid asking something of someone, so you write them because the idea of asking in person is terrifying... and it's the most verbose email you've ever written.
