    Suicidal urges after positive experiences

I'm glad it could help you feel less alone, @bellbird (as you did me, when you said you'd had the same experience).

Thank you so much, @backtonormal, it means a lot, and thats a really good idea.

    Suicidal urges after positive experiences

Your response resonated a lot, @NightSky , thank you so much. I do have DID, and I could see parts of me being threatened if I feel joy, or feeling they will be ignored, etc. Thank you so much for this insight! I get this, and I think sometimes this is what is going on on some of the...

    Suicidal urges after positive experiences

Do any of you experience strong suicidal urges right after a positive experience? Not like "that was such a great vacation and I'm low now that its over." I've had that, but this is different. This is super consistent after any positive experience--a nice relaxing walk and talk with a friend...

    DID DID/Self-Harm

I really appreciate your thoughts, @Sideways , I had just been thinking of it in a negative perspective, and not about the potential progress this could actually be showing or preceding, thanks for helping me change my perspective! Thanks for these ideas, @whiteraven , communication back from...

    DID DID/Self-Harm

Don't know if this is the best place to put this, but I was diagnosed with DID so I thought maybe here. An alter self-harmed yesterday. This has not happened in over 2 decades, not since I was younger than a teenager. So I am just shocked and confused why it happened now. Several are always...

    Tolerable Jobs

Maybe try a job like a file clerk or record clerk, it seems like that could be a quiet job that isn't fast paced. Optometrist offices are pretty slow-paced, maybe a receptionist there or the person who helps people pick out their glasses. Good luck!

DID To tell or not to tell your prescribing physician that you have DID

Stressful, I'm sorry. Definitely shows the danger of telling anyone who keeps records.

DID To tell or not to tell your prescribing physician that you have DID

Wow, how do you think it ended up in your record @whiteraven ?

DID To tell or not to tell your prescribing physician that you have DID

Hey my friends with DID, question: did you tell your prescribing physician that you have DID? I don't want DID on any medical records, it feels like that could be used against me at some future period of time, and I feel like because there aren't specific medications for DID, they don't need to...

I really like this idea, it seems really helpful, thanks for sharing it!

Thanks, guys, I will try practicing grounding more. And look for what might be grounding for specific parts. Thanks!

    DID Most helpful DID techniques?

Yeah I've definitely noticed this, and realized my strong, not-connected-to-the-situation, or overreactive emotions are from parts, but when I try to find out whats going on for that part, I get overwhelmed by them and it ends up a mess. Not able to be that steady, calm influence for them.

    DID Most helpful DID techniques?

Thanks for your thoughts, @Swift , I like what you said about being a gentle, steady presence for the other parts. I've really failed at that in the past, and see why its so important. Maybe if I can be like that, they'll start trusting me enough to communicate and collaborate.

Thank you for this thorough list of things that have helped, @Reflections , I really appreciate it, and will look into these! I agree and am with you on nature, it totally helps me calm down and feel real, which is why I'm sad that winter is here which is going to limit it for me. Yes, this...

    DID Most helpful DID techniques?

Thanks for the advice. It is so hard. But it makes sense that this is key and I've got to keep at it, despite the frustration and failures.

    DID Most helpful DID techniques?

Thanks! I think it does apply. I find communication with alters extremely difficult, when I try to set aside time and initiate it---crickets. Meanwhile when I'm busy trying to do something else, thats when they intrude with their thoughts and feelings. But it makes so much sense that good...

    DID Most helpful DID techniques?

Question for those with DID and DID-spectrum disorders. What therapeutic techniques have helped you most in managing or overcoming your DID? I'm wondering about both individual therapeutic strategies (i.e. yoga, grounding, etc) and types of therapies (CBT, DBT, EMDR, etc)? I feel like I've...

    Pain

Have you ever tried yoga? It can be good for releasing trauma pent up inside the body. I often end a practice crying.

    DID D.I.D. and full conciousness

It could be DID, but we aren't professionals and can't diagnose you. Talk to your T, he/she isn't going to make you feel ashamed. And they can diagnose and help you. But yes, I have DID and I have this experience sometimes.

    Pain

I'm sorry things feel so sucky to you right now. I don't have fibromyalgia, but know people who do and have heard how awful it is. I can relate to the other things though, to PTSD stopping you from pursuing what you want to do, to not being able to see a future. So you're not alone. Good job...

    Sudden changes in depression/suicidality?

That makes a lot of sense to me, why it would be more dynamic

    Sudden changes in depression/suicidality?

Interesting, I didn't know this was common. The two friends I have with depression said its just been constant for them for years, it doesn't shift quickly or at all. So I was wondering whether if for so people it did or whether it was always pretty static.
