Other I'm sorry but the more I grow up; the more I hate men

I work with dogs, and I can guarantee you this is not true. And I definitely hear the pain being expressed in this thread. There are certain groups of the human race that trigger the shit out of me and I get pretty irrational pretty damn quick, and it’s not all entirely undeserved. But…men are...

Undiagnosed Hyper-vigilance towards noise caused by noisy neighbours

Welcome to the forum, @Ravenclaw50 😊 With all the hypervigilance stuff that goes on with having ptsd, noisy neighbours can be particularly stressful. Finding ways to empty out that stress cup, as often and effectively as possible, has been absolutely critical to my own sanity when living in...

Consistently doing damage control in relationships

Maybe instead of trying therapy again, you could reframe that as seeing someone who could help you how to have more meaningful and rewarding relationships?

    BPD Had a BPD episode…

So, maybe have a crack at the Sheriff’s office classes and see how you go? If you don’t like the class, the other attendees, or even the instructors, may have ideas about where else you could try. A lot of christian based activities won’t necessarily involve any proselytising, depending on the...

    BPD Had a BPD episode…

Try not to get lost down the “I can’t because” rabbit hole. That’s depression, and as persuasive as it may seem, it’s not the truth. Free options can be found anywhere from community bulletin boards at the grocery store to online communities where you can dip your toe in. This idea? Is a...

    Other Parentalization

This is fair. The entire situation is tragic - there is no good outcome for you or your mum. I’ve had to watch folks go through this stage of life, and it’s awful. 10 years ago, the expectation would have been the same for me. That out of the 4 kids in our family, I would be the one to carry...

Love the art, hate the artist?

Yeah, definitely. Loads of them. And there’s a lot of music I listen to that I associate with things that are just neutral associations, neither good nor bad.

Love the art, hate the artist?

That’s definitely overthinking it for me personally. An MJ song comes on the radio and my brain makes a near-instant association with the allegations of pedophilia against him. Just like when I see a punnet of blueberries in the supermarket, my brain makes a near-instant association with modern...

A New Path - How can I start 2026 and the 48th of my life with a completely fresh slate and new hope?

Assuming that I will need to. I’ve agreed to lunch, but I plan to walk away the minute I’ve had enough. That has been the way I’ve handled family interactions for some time now, and I’m getting better at leaving in a way that I feel proud of the way I’ve handled myself, and looked after...

Avoid taking legal advice on an anonymous forum. If you have been made an offer, either contact CICA or a solicitor familiar with the law in your jurisdiction 👍

Supporter Living with a partner who has significant childhood trauma.

Welcome to the forum! If they’ve only recently started therapy, brace yourself for a pretty unpredictable ride. Typically, with trauma therapy, it gets worse before it gets better. In particular, they’ll potentially have a bit of a hair trigger with their ability to cope with stress -...

Poll How long have you been in therapy?

All up, I think I’m about 16 years in. I’m down to once a month. But I suspect that I’ll be on about this level of maintenance indefinitely. If/when things go pear-shaped again, I’ll need to increase, and/or go back on meds. I’m in a good period right now, but ptsd and depression are both...

Working with an animal abuse case

I can relate to this, and I don’t think it’s a necessarily bad approach. But it is probably going to mean stepping up the self care a bit. Taking moments for yourself - lots of checking in through the day, and stepping out for a moment to give yourself air and a chance to get your breathing...

Sufferer New and Looking for Help with Anxiety

Welcome to the forum! Anxiety can be incredibly disabling, but it can also respond really well with therapy. There’s a lot of accessible therapy options available because of how common anxiety is, and CBT and exposure based therapies are your first line for anxiety.

Anxiety/PTSD - Where to get help? Pros are too expensive.

There’s a number of apps that you can practice CBT skills with to help you learn the skills a pro would teach you for managing anxiety. Short courses in CBT may also be a cheaper option than individual-session therapy.
