Ptsd Daughter Can't Deal With Dad's New Girlfriend

I'm sorry for what you are going through, and the lack of understanding you are getting from your dad. It sounds like you are handling it very well - you should be proud of yourself. Does your dad know about your PTSD? Maybe it is worth printing out some literature explaining PTSD and triggers...

My Relationship Is Failing Due To My Ptsd

Thank you for your response. I'm not in therapy at the moment, but have been in the past and I didn't find it a great help, so I'm reluctant to try couples counselling too. He hasn't given me any ultimatum, but he's just been very sad, and I think he's just realised that intimacy isn't possible...

Sexual Assault I Don't Feel Like Mine Was Bad Enough

It is not a competition. What happened to you sounds very distressing and it doesn't surprise me that it has caused you trauma. Please do not minimise what you are experiencing.

Childhood The Stigma Of Child Abuse

I don't have much to offer, because I am in the same boat, stuck in a place that is painful and not sure what way to go -- healing, or the opposite. Upsetting News

My brain is a bit foggy, but you are a very good person for feeling their pain and supporting them. My heart is sad for the poor girl, I hope she somehow comes out the other side. I hope she takes you up on your offer to talk - it would have helped me a lot at her age having someone who had...

My Relationship Is Failing Due To My Ptsd

Well, I've been a member here for 2 years but never posted... Maybe if I did sooner, I wouldn't be in this position. I'm in a long term relationship - 6 years - and whilst it's never been easy, it is now really failing, on account of my PTSD. I have PTSD after 5 years of childhood sexual...

Who Do You Tell That You Have Ptsd?

I shared my C-PTSD my employer as I was going through an exceptionally difficult time and was afraid it would impact my work performance. I was told I had to leave personal issues at the door and put my head down and do my job. I don't think he meant to sound completely unsympathetic but it just...

What Kind Of Support Do You Have?

My therapist is my primary support person. My partner was understanding at first and tries to be compassionate but having no experience with mental health himself he doesn't understand the never ending nature of it (I have C-PTSD) which makes it hard for me to speak to him.
