    Three Families

Agreed, and we all do the best we can given our resources and situation. This forum isn’t the destination, but surely is a footstone on the path, a resource well and truly.

I think being a member here can be part of that. Your reply proves you are succeeding in your own way.

    Three Families

Many of us have three families. One we are born into. Another perhaps we fall into, before we know how to navigate the world, before we know who we are and what we need. And then there is the third...the family we search out and create when neither of the first two could love us for who we...

Your Favortie Type Of Coffee Or Tea?

Coffee, very rarely, double espresso or from a french press, black. Tea, daily! Lapsang Souchong Chai (with sugar and additional cardamom) Earl Grey (a little sugar) Irish Breakfast (no sugar, but a little cream) Herbal infusions...things with licorice root and anise and spices...

Childhood Are You Ok With Your Name?

I like my name. My narcissist mom may have tried to own me, but my name was always mine, and mine alone.

It’s Hard To Read When Someone Says…

Thank you. And yes, I did speak within the context of a (hopefully) safe place, this is true. But yeah, expand that to any cultural “institution,” and all bets are off!

It’s Hard To Read When Someone Says…

Yes, this is my current experience here. I did this person-to-person recently, and it was OK, and that was, well...more than I could have hoped for. Though I did have a panic attack afterward. Thank you.

It’s Hard To Read When Someone Says…

More sense than I can say, yes.

It’s Hard To Read When Someone Says…

As I read more and more posts on this forum, I have found certain ones where someone speaks their truth with authenticity and unguarded vulnerability, where they express what it is to be the human being they are. And sometimes, maybe most times, they are suffering. And from time to time, there...

Sexual Assault Just Wondering What The Difference Is

Every fiber of my being cried out in a singular chorus of “YES!” when I read this. Until victim blaming, shaming, silencing, and otherwise ends, until those traumatized are met where they are, accepted, and heard, until the chains of shame-as-a-weapon are broken, shout it, shout from the...

    Brain Fog

The only antidepressant med that ever had any positive effect upon my brain fog was bupropion/Wellbutrin. I still take 450mg/day of bupropion for mood. But for complete and total clearing of any and all brain fog, well and truly, Dexedrine has been life-changing. I take it for my (severe) ADHD-PI.

    Yes, this exactly.

    Pretending To Be Ok

I’ve done it all my life and I don’t see that stopping any time soon. Part of that is functioning in society, and that’s OK. Part of that is never letting anyone see me as wounded, or to see the real me, because that puts me at risk of being invalidated or preyed upon. So pretending to be OK...

Poll What Are Your Beliefs About God / Higher Power?

I am agnostic. I don’t know if there is a God or Gods, and have no way to prove it one way or the other. So I am not a person of faith. I am a person of reason.

Poll When Did the Symptoms of PTSD First Appear, After the Initial Traumatic Event?

My trauma history started very early in childhood, but the first presentations of PTSD didn’t occur until I was 14, and it wasn’t until I was in my early 20s that my PTSD was fully developed, with the tendency toward isolation and hyperarousal arriving last of all.

    Med Options For Sleep?

In those times I am having a problem falling asleep or staying asleep, 25-100mg of trazodone does the trick nicely. That’s not often, though. Paradoxically, I have found that Dexedrine will allow me to sleep. I don’t get nightmares, thankfully. Sleep is when I dream of worlds where odd and...

    Wellbutrin Experience

My experience of bupropion has been very good. It is the only antidepressant I have ever tried that has worked. I take 450mg daily in the XR formulation. The only side-effect I experience is a slight tendency toward slower gastric motility, but given my diet, activity level, and other meds, it...

    Sufferer My Introduction Thread

Hello, I found this forum when searching for something else, and so I lurked and read for a while, and after a bit I said to myself: There are people here who have remarkable depth of perspective and insight, wisdom even, and it has been hard-won, and There are people who might understand you...
