Wondering if my relationship with my husband will ever work out.

Hello Fozbear, Your post hits pretty close to home. My trauma was different, but still, hubby became controlling and angry. I couldn’t be around him, I started to avoid him. If he was awake I pretended to be asleep, if he was in one room I would go in another. He would regularly grab me and...

    Exercise ptsd

Running used to be a trigger for me, any exercise, really. Your brain is processing stuff, trauma and whatever gunk is backed up for processing. Try doing something else that elevates your heart rate, see if you have the same result. If not, then there’s something about running that may be...

    Exercise induced anxiety?

@Mouse79 - I’m sorry about your yoga experience. Both in terms of your body’s reaction and because of the instructor’s reaction. The stationary bike sounds like a good option. Take it slow, and mindful, though, you are disconnected the anxiety from the physical act of exercise and increasing...

    Exercise induced anxiety?

@Mouse79 - I’m sorry you are going through this. I deal with it too. My ptsd is pretty specifically related to a shooting. After my diagnosis I started going to an old lady workout group because my anxiety was pretty high generally, this was a group that I thought I could be okay with. The first...

    Narrative therapy

@HealingInProcess - I hear you saying you want to write the ending now. That’s probably a good idea, maybe think in terms of goal setting and then come up with a plan to get there. I was just thinking about your narrative as I do with any compelling story, that I don’t want it to end, and I keep...

I am not the (sole) cause of your bad feelings, so don't treat me that way

Hugs @PreciousChild - I’m glad you shared. You are worth it!? Best, IQC

    Narrative therapy

Hello @HealingInProcess - It sounds like you have at least figured out the patterns of your trauma, even if you can’t recall all the details. Maybe from there you can start to re-write your pattern. I’m not a therapist or anything so if it doesn’t help, don’t do it. My thought here is just...

    Wellbutrin SR vs XL

Hi @EveHarrington - My dose is XL, I take it once a day in the morning. I do take seroquel at night, but I started that before the Wellbutrin, so I’m not sure how I would do with just the Wellbutrin. Best, IQC

Bipolar Help on having to live with new with Bipolar diagnosis (and a feeling like I “lost my mind”).

Hello @Hopefulphoenix - I started reading your post because I have a good friend with a bipolar diagnosis, and thought maybe it would be helpful to connect the two of you. However, as I continued to read, I saw similarities of things I have been dealing with and only a PTSD diagnosis. I started...

Rights in US regarding "psych" assessments at hospitals and inter-agency privacy of trauma history details?

@Justmehere - Gotcha! You might check with any of the folks who work for the VA, they may have a private practice where they could see you outside the VA. I’m glad you are following up on the bad experiences you have had. I think it’s important. Best, IQC

    Weird mental states

Hello @Lisamarieaxo - I am not healed, my trauma was chronic and adult, so different, but bodies and brains only have limited reactions. The book #posttraumaticgrowth helped me to think behind post traumatic stress and PTSD. I will say I tried reading other similar themed books, but this is the...

Rights in US regarding "psych" assessments at hospitals and inter-agency privacy of trauma history details?

@Justmehere - Keep breathing. Can we process this and look at things with a bit of a different perspective? First, I assume you went back to the therapist because you thought she could help and you thought she was helpful. So, give her the benefit of the doubt for just a moment (you can always...

Rights in US regarding "psych" assessments at hospitals and inter-agency privacy of trauma history details?

@Justmehere -you are absolutely right about this being illegal. HIPPAA requires healthcare professionals not release ANY information they have obtained through their professional service, without your consent. So, assuming that the director had gotten information about you through another...

For those who recovered, how long did it take and are there 3 or 4 lessons you can share with us?

I have heard it said that PTSD is a journey of, “one step forward, two steps back.” In my experience, and I can’t say I’m cured, but I can look back and see progress. When I was diagnosed, I was dissociating quite a bit. I couldn’t multi-task at all. Seriously, I couldn’t make my lunch if the...

Psychiatrist giving med options, can you weigh in with your experience?

@Sideways - when you lower your dose are you experiencing PTSD symptoms or withdrawal? When I first started taking it, it was like Ecstasy, everything felt great and was wonderful (not that I’ve ever taken a Ecstasy) if I woke up in the middle of the night I felt like there were pink cgampagne...

Psychiatrist giving med options, can you weigh in with your experience?

@Sideways and @blackemerald1 - Thank you both for your concern. I assure you I have no intention of changing my meds without discussing and coming up with a plan with my provider. But, I will also tell you that if my provider was telling me to something I had never heard of before, it would be...

Cortisone Injection - Psych Side Effects

@blackemerald1 - if you have the option, a rowing machine is also a pretty good workout, less pressure on those bursae, but still works the body. Core and hamstring work has been really helpful too. Hugs!

Psychiatrist giving med options, can you weigh in with your experience?

I’ve only ever been able to tolerate the smallest dose available, so I’m not quite sure what weaning off that would look like. Do the pills get cut in half? Do I take one just every other day? For now, just researching. ?

Cortisone Injection - Psych Side Effects

@blackemerald1 is this for bursitis? I went through 6 was of PT before going for the shot, I kinda wondered if it was affecting me, although definitely not what you’ve described. Hope you feel better soon.

Psychiatrist giving med options, can you weigh in with your experience?

@EveHarrington - when I started the Wellbutrin I started having some issues with anxiety, but it’s lessened significantly in 4 months. When I was just taking the seroquel it was super hard to get out of bed in the morning, after adding the Wellbutrin I started having dreams that I wasn’t...

    High muscle tension

I’m going to recommend Yogafit. For $15 month there are a ton of options, long, short specific muscle groups, guided meditation and some trauma specific stuff. Just walking might help too, just to burn off some of the gunk we store up. Even just in one room... Best IQC

Psychiatrist giving med options, can you weigh in with your experience?

@EveHarrington - your experience makes me wonder if I could go off seroquel and just take the Wellbutrin. We’ll see.

Did you have any issues with this? @Vaux I have pretty low blood pressure as it is..

Thank you @Vaux. And welcome! Can you tell me more about what you mean when you say the clonidine works better? Better for anxiety? Depression? Sensory distortions? I appreciate it.
