Yippee, and at last, the therapist I need.

Oh No. The prospect of a 3 way zoom meeting has been foisted on me. With the Psych nurse who has been in contact a lot and is up to date. The trainee shrink has returned after a month and still wants to concentrate on what ails me in the day. This is the one who is ignoring the nightmares...

    PTSD shutdown mode question.

We lived on a 41 foot canal boat for few years and it was a lovely way of life. Yet after a while, probably because we were totally relaxed and happy, we suffered from boat movements. 41 foot boat, 37 foot cabin. Walking from the back to the galley we'd often forget what we were going to do...

Yippee, and at last, the therapist I need.

Flying high tonight as my prayers have finally been answered. I've got a registered, trauma trained therapist, who is a Vet, and knows where I'm coming from! To add to my happiness, the all important first date went well. Something tells me I'm going to sleep easy tonight.🫠

    Our Future With AI

I would guess they have or are close to surpassing the human brain? When I talk/type to one of those systems, it freaks me. Yes they are clever, but over time you can tell by responses it's AI. I have a little list of things that "confuse" current AI which, if I'm not sure WHAT I am talking to...

    PTSD shutdown mode question.

Thanks for the reply. I am aware of mindfulness training from others and try to be goal orientated in what I am doing. BUT I guess I'm still doing it wrong after 6 months as I still switch off. In the house I regularly blank and that's usually when reading the news. In the main that news is...

    PTSD shutdown mode question.

I am really happy tonight as I've been freaking about my "switching off" moments which can last up to 10 minutes and finally found out why. There is no apparent trigger apart from I'm not too happy with life at that time. Problem is I haven't got a "graduated" emotion switch. So I'm either...

    Site Changes

Here speaks a once upon a time mainframe engineer. I always worry about software upgrades as I subscribe to the hardware engineers mantra, "If it's not broken, don't try and fix it with software".😉

An irreverent look how my PTSD treatment is going so far.

The patient? He keeps the mugs full, the carpets swept, and the garden free of rats. Got to love the winter. Out come the rats from all the garden sheds around us to look for food. Meanwhile an update (official guess) when I'll get to see a real shrink. 4 to 7 months. (UK politics permitting).

An irreverent look how my PTSD treatment is going so far.

GP (Doctor) first. I know nothing about PTSD, but come back and see me next week. Agency One. First "therapist" I've seen since the late 1980's, (no one told me he wasn't registered), a bit weird, and was regularly upsetting me big time, but he's history now. Agency Two. A trainee...

HELP! Today's therapy session went horribly wrong. Panic during a ‘relaxation’ exercise??

It was our country, once upon a time. Now? I'm not so sure whose country it is but know it aint mine.

HELP! Today's therapy session went horribly wrong. Panic during a ‘relaxation’ exercise??

Sorry to read your story hyper. Your care sucks big time IMHO. There again, so does my lousy GP. If I could get out of this country, I'd go tomorrow. With what I could fit into and on top of our car. Leaving an agent to sell our home and forward the money. The UK I grew up in, and served to...

HELP! Today's therapy session went horribly wrong. Panic during a ‘relaxation’ exercise??

So, this therapist who isn't. The vet service working with me phoned and said "who"? The provider turned out to be a subcontractor. OMG. After explaining things, an email was sent requesting a combat vet aware therapist. Now I'm waiting to see what happens. Only it doesn't stop there. The...

Va vets with PTSD for mst

UK based so no VA. Wanted a chat about my PTSD drugs and problems and walked into the doctors room with a young guy sat to one side. Seemingly invisible as the doctor got straight into it. Whoa! Who is this sitting in? A student, came the reply. Him out, NOW! No- - - he has every right to be...

Sleep Paralysis and Accident. Is this normal for people with CPTSD?

i know that effect from a nightmare only too well. As with you, severe stress wakes up the worst in my mind. I'm nigh on 70 now, and over 35 years there are still one or two nightmares that pin me down. Yet, I console myself with the knowledge that not every nightmare is REALLY horrible and...

Only fools rush in where angels fear to tread!

Interesting resume. I never bothered much about 600m+. Owned that and comfortable with that. Besides, my issue held cmass at that who why worry about a gnats balls at 1000. Used to have a good crawl and the patience of Job. Slow in, usually slowly out, but that was yesteryear's. Now it's fun...

HELP! Today's therapy session went horribly wrong. Panic during a ‘relaxation’ exercise??

Lufthansa? I wish. The only flights I ever took were is combat colors and full of other guys all dressed the same. Funny bit about it, they all bitched like mad about the red webbing seating while I fell asleep like a baby!

HELP! Today's therapy session went horribly wrong. Panic during a ‘relaxation’ exercise??

Thanks for the reply. Um, hard to answer but:- 1. I have no survivors guilt, 2, what passes as humanity nowadays sucks as my country is sinking into some really bad mire. 3, because I've lost all control, my demons are running the show and getting more intense as I'm getting ZERO support in...

HELP! Today's therapy session went horribly wrong. Panic during a ‘relaxation’ exercise??

Hi and thanks for the reply. You're number 3 to point out that deep triggers need to be considered. It is one of the things I'm going to have a bitch about with my liaison as NO ONE (this time around) has sat back and said "Tell me all about it". I've tried to point that out to the three...

HELP! Today's therapy session went horribly wrong. Panic during a ‘relaxation’ exercise??

No argument from me. I'm fed up with "controlling my breath", while fools say nightmares have no breath so don't exist. I would love to see them survive for just one night fighting my demons.

HELP! Today's therapy session went horribly wrong. Panic during a ‘relaxation’ exercise??

I'm back and not happy. I'll just have an in depth look at this gentleman. He's a "Mind & Breath Trainer" and a hypnotherapist, BUT I can't find him on any professional Psychologist listing in the UK. Tomorrows phone call to the contracting firm could turn out to be "interesting".
