Anyone with a half a brain should be able to figure out that when you give huge tax breaks to one portion of the population, medium breaks to another portion, and a small cut to the last portion, you have to CUT something in order to make up all these LOST taxes. Medicare, medicaid, insurance and government cuts will come to many many programs that are operating right now.

So while the top earning people won’t worry too much, the middle class and lower class will be the ones that will be hurt the most with many government programs that will be on the chopping block. Food stamps, after school programs, head start any program that is federally funded will get cut.

PLUS all the cuts they are planning for income taxes will hurt many many people.

All I can say is..... The rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer.

I’m not in favor of this tax plan. I do expect some cuts to various programs to happen that will be a mess.

I don’t believe that all tax cuts are bad. I tend to agree with the Atlantic (https://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2017/10/real-middle-class-tax-cut/541779/) that actual middle class tax cuts could really help the economy and bring in greater revenue to the government as well. Prager U explains it in this video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FqLjyA0hL1s

As much as all the outrage about what is happening in DC is deserved, it’s not actually all on DC. alone. States have a fair amount of ability, if they so choose, to tax their citizens and provide replacement programs to replace what is cut, and frankly, they are much more able to do this in an effective manner than the feds.

Why don’t they? Think about it.

We have become an over federalized nation expecting a couple hundred clowns in DC to know and run every government intervention for every person and every city. It’s not sustainable.

These federal programs are headed for collapse unless change happens - by 2028... http://www.wsj.com/articles/social-...ency-over-20-years-trustees-report-1466605893

Is this cut in taxes and possible cut in spending the right change? No. They did it all in a please-the-lobbyists heavy manner.

I’m in support of undoing them at the federal level and giving the money back to the states, and letting the states work it out. This mess in DC isn’t helping us get any closer to sustainability.

The part where the poor pick up the tab is yet to come. To make all this work, they'll have to cut spending. Which will mean cutting things like student loan money, food stamps, Medicaid. etc. What pisses me off more than anything else is we DID this back in the 80's, with Reagan. It didn't work then and it won't work now. We ended up in a recession then & we'll end up in one now.

I'm not sure good economic times and bad have a lot to do with politics. They come and go. Seems like the thing to do is set money aside in the good times so you can make it through the hard times easier. Same as you would in your own life.

I used to assume these people were smart and knew more about what they're doing than I do. The evidence to the contrary keeps piling up.

I agree with @hodge, rage is perhaps growing over here.

It is helpful to...

The 1st Amendment prohibits Congress from making or passing laws that prohibit free speech.

The 10th Amendment gives states the Constitutional power to do what Congress isn't authorized. So while Capitol Hill can't stop you from speaking your mind, businesses and websites can do so to ensure the safety and well-being of the general public. This is because a company, whether it's Amazon, FB, or the one that runs this website, is registered with a state-level government (usually via Articles of Incorporation, through the respective Department of Revenue or something similar).

In other words, Congress isn't the boss here, @anthony is. So far, I'd say he's doing pretty good at keeping things pretty civil.

That being said, the 14th Amendment assures that regardless of race, gender, religion, nationality of origin, disability, sexual orientation, or age, all American-born or naturalized citizens are held to the same legal standards.

Which may not be the same philosophy in other countries, but when dealing with international visitors the "house rules" apply. So someone in Germany will be held to the same rules and consequences as someone in Georgetown.

On a side note, I'd like to add one more thing for personal empowerment, Lao Tzu style: free speech, like free will, is a double-edged sword. What we may think is a great idea, or a tactful comeback to another member's insult, isn't always the best response.

That's why the "Ignore" button exists. It'll save you 90% of the preventable headaches in life. I learned that the hard way a few months back, and exercise it judiciously.

Thanks again for your time, ladies and gents. Stay awesome!

I believe that Roy Moore is the example of why we do not have a direct democracy but need a representative democracy. The Tyrany of the Majority is picking a person who co-authored classes that women should not run. (http://www.al.com/news/index.ssf/2017/11/study_co-authored_by_roy_moore.html#incart_river_hom)

And voters are actually getting bibles signed by him. He did not author the bible. Why is he signing them?
Trump faith adviser compares having a Bible signed by Roy Moore to being healed by Jesus

I don’t understand why people who teach that women are lesser persons get nominated to run to become LAWMAKERS as a profession while so many other good people can’t get a decent job.

This is a service Anthony has set up for those of us suffering/struggling with ptsd, and as far as him being qualified as "the boss", um... nope.

Agree @scout86 100%.

Tax breaks for the wealthy. Cutting deductions for the poor and middle class. Leaving in tax loopholes for the wealthy. Cutting government programs for the poor and middle class. Spending increases for the military. Cutting social security. Robin Hood only in reverse mode here........

I honestly don’t see @Justmehere HOW the bottom half of tax payers will break even, but I do see where the rich will get richer!!!!
