She has been to therapy in the past but no longer. She did have a therapist through the VA she really liked, but that doctor left and she hasn't been to a regular one since. We did go to a therapist together for a while, but that also stopped as she was not happy with the results. I needed to be...
Why do sufferers try to hurt their supporters? I've been asking myself this for a long time.
My wife and I have been together for 7 years (5 married). We have three children [two biological (3yrs & 3mo), one step-daughter(15yrs)]. She has PTSD and anxiety disorder resulting from her time in...
I have asked her about going back to therapy. I've asked her to go with me. We did for a while before our second daughter was born. Unfortunately, asking her to go is one of those touchy subjects which triggers her.
She's a veteran who has served in Korea and Iraq. She says much of her PTSD...
Going through another rough patch. I've found these posts help (somewhat). Thanks for listening in advance.
We were on a real good streak towards the end of 2017. It had been at least three months since the last episode, so I was feeling pretty good. Then my wife told me she was thinking...
She refuses any kind of treatment, and for me to suggest it means I'm not "supportive." She really gets upset when I remove myself and give her the silent treatment. Yet, if I do respond to the outbursts, that's a lost cause also. It's a real no-win situation.
Just a little venting here, thanks for the support ahead of time. It does help.
Wife of 3+ years had multiple triggers this week and really went off on me today. I got the "You don't care or respect me; we should separate" talk again. I've had it many times, and when they get really bad, I...
I guess I didn't really think about it in terms of the party triggering her. She did have some reservations about going, but that's mostly out of disapproval of my boss (another story for another time). Honestly, she knows most of the people I work with and has actually become good friends...
Hey everyone, been a while since I last posted. I've always found that writing on here helps me out, if nothing more than to rant and get some pent up feelings out in the open.
Went through another episode with my wife last night. We had a decent time at my company's picnic. Not great, not...
Hey everyone,
Posted a couple times to here in other threads. I'm happy to say I've learned a lot about being a supporter of someone with PTSD, and while there are always rough patches when with someone with PTSD, I have quickly learned how to deal with it and be a good partner to someone with...
I've been broken. My wife has PTSD stemming from her time in the military and a broken first marriage.
This isn't my first post, but it is my first post in quite some time. We've been married for nearly a year now, and the holiday times are tough with our family. We were married shortly...
Thanks everyone for the responses. Some good advise and a return to therapy was pretty much what I figured. Sometimes it's good to just let it out, and this forum is a great place for that.
I figured it I could at least update everyone where we stand. Shortly after my first post, a doctor...
Could use some advice.
I met my wife almost 2 and a half years ago and we we've been married for almost 6 months. She suffers from PTSD. She is an Army Veteran who spent some time in Korea and Iraq and is divorced with a child who just turned 10 (whom I adore).
Just prior to our wedding, my...
