Yes, working on it and yes. I feel like standing on the ruins of the past that has been "my" life, but actually hasn't been, because it feels like I was never there. I find it extremely painful to look back and still mourn over the lost years. Reconcile goes slowly by bringing the stripped...
You will live up to your potential and make a difference, I am sure you can. A Dutch saying, maybe also in English: "Where there is a will, there is a way." Take care Ed.
Yes that is a long time and then they need the time to start working in addition. Two months without therapy really sucks. Could you maybe stay at home and just be ill, which is truth. Then you may feel less like failing, because you are simply not in the condition to accomplish anything and...
If we speak about long frozen episodes it is possible for me to go through those at home regardless of being very grounded, but I could be wrong. It is true that I am a ridiculously grounded person and have done quite a lot of real somatic work at home.
This is very individual, because if you...
I am really sorry for you. I hope your therapy will resume soon to give you the support you need. I can not think of any short term solutions to make you function. Anti-depressants maybe? Take care so much and hugs
So much understanding for this, and good for you, you still proceeded with the talk. f*cking ptsd has robbed me from everything at the moment and all I can do, is accept, have patience, keep doing the work, and then I will rise again
I have been reading most of the above and I can only come up with one question that maybe could help you to ask yourself: "What do I get out of this relationship?"
I ask because I am not able to find it, apart from wanting to help a person at your own expense. Doing therapy with a romantic...
To me somatic experiencing has proven far superior over talk therapy; efficient and fast results. I would probably not describe any therapy as fun. After 20 years of talk therapy I still did not know I had very early trauma. Remembering those memories has helped in making sense of my whole life...
Somatic experiencing is a body therapy method with a therapist, but once you get the hang of it you can do some on your own at home as well, also to speed up the process.
You are not alone in this for sure. I also have had pains/aches that remain, and in places that are not always logical. To alleviate the symptoms you could go and try to feel into this pain, what is it telling you, is there a movement you could make to reduce the pain, etc. I do somatic...
Would guided meditation or mindfulness meditation help you? If you can focus on your breath or take you through a meditation by someone telling you to do so, maybe you can take the focus away from yourself. Just a suggestion. I don't have the issues and panic you describe, so I am not talking...
Last week another new member from Norway joined, and she was going to start therapy soon, possibly for ptsd. Maybe you could ask her to put you on the right track? The member is @mumfie.
Or you could check on this website of the European Society for Trauma & Dissociation...
I hear you. I have never started a thread on here. You are doing good.
Re using; no indeed not meant as using people in a negative way, more informative.
Maybe it is about setting boundaries and ignoring what you don't like. You don't need to defend yourself for everything. If you have no eating disorder then period. Ignore the people that upset you, stay away from drama don't look for it as you have enough of that in your head already.
I fully agree and came up with same conclusion.
Often in life we are presented with a wake up call to something we have overlooked in our life. My wake up call was a stroke and brain surgery. This triggered the unexposed ptsd I had walked around with my whole life without knowing it, as I did...
I have the same the last half year, and find it very difficult to find an appetite. It is due to a very heavy therapeutic load and fear. I have no eating disorder. I force myself to eat small things like bananas, apples, yoghurt, dates, chocolate during the day and try to cook something light...
I understand what you are saying. I wonder if being an only child is the real problem here. Don't get me wrong as I know the deep isolation that comes with it, especially if you're in an abusive situation.
What you describe seems a more general ptsd issue to me, in the sense that we all, out of...
@The Albatross & @Cashew thank you, but still don't see the difference. To me it seems gaslighting is a newish term for brainwashing and mind control.
"Both brainwashing techniques and mind control methods are used to change people's beliefs and attitude so that they make the decisions and do...
I am not sure, but I wonder how much truth is in this sidenote. Making oneself semi-invisible or totally invisible -me- is an active attempt to not showing aliveness. Therefore I see your post from a slightly different perspective and more coming from this process of invisibility and less coming...
