    Social Sharing Changes

I am very grateful for this forum, and it's professionalism as to how it is set up and everything. Once I am employed again, I will be sure to make a donation. That is why I feel hesitant to give feedback on this coloured social media bar. Last week it was suddenly at the top of the page and I...

    Sufferer Shutting Down

I relate to your issue as I was 'raised' by a borderline mother, with a lot of narcissism present. Such a parent demands from the child that the whole world of the child should be revolved around that parent. Always focused on the needs of the parent. When you start to do activities for your own...

Do You Love Your Pet More Than People Sometimes ?

Did you see my recent post on this study? Oxytocin is key. Real interesting stuff. https://www.myptsd.com/threads/dogs-hijack-human-bonding-pathway.52829/

Walked Out On Therapy Session... Now What?

Of course, when said in this manner, I would not mind either. My therapist does this too. However, being told to stop, has another connotation to me. @FridayJones It is my understanding that @sweetcandy told her therapist about her pattern in relationships in which she pulls and then pushes the...

    "victim" Therapy

It is your therapy and if you feel that you need to talk about those memories then you should be able to do that. Having spent time talking about it before does not mean you can no longer talk about it, you should be able to talk about it as long as you need. I believe if you want to go into...

I understand this is hard now, but imo the truth sets us free in the end.

    My Depression

I just wish for you that your husband would be a bit more supportive towards you. You seem the one that has the most on your plate regarding health, and you deserve support for that too. Is he depressed too? I mean sleeping the whole day could be a sign of depression.

Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing - Any Experience? Has It Helped?

@Dana1010 I agree with you in that there are many SE practitioners, who do not really get it. I think it is best to have an all-round trauma therapist, who has SE as one of his methods available, and who understands it in the context of trauma. I have seen totally ridiculous videos on youtube by...

Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing - Any Experience? Has It Helped?

@UniversalBeing Would you mind telling a bit more about the specific therapy you do? Or point to maybe a good reference you know of. Thanks!

Peter Levine's Somatic Experiencing - Any Experience? Has It Helped?

After 20+ years of talk therapy, this method is saving my life, and I highly recommend it. In this post I wrote more about it: https://www.myptsd.com/threads/the-day-i-realized-ptsd-was-a-life-long-condition.51951/page-2#post-838823 ETA I should add that it is not only the method, but also an...

Trying To Stretch, Not Push, Myself

Pushing to me sounds like crossing one's boundaries/limitations/imperfections, due to not knowing them and/or not accepting them. Stretching would be to be aware of your boundaries, and behave in a way that you accept and respect them, which is eventually about self-acceptance.

Walked Out On Therapy Session... Now What?

I think this is not the point here. The behaviour could be inappropriate, but a therapist telling you to stop with it, is total nonsense. There is a lack of respect and understanding in there, as the therapy is meant to change behaviours we can not change on our own with the therapist...

Poll Should A Person Talk About His Fears? - A Poll

Do you mean any person, or people with ptsd? That would make a big difference imo.

    Oxygen And The Freeze Response

Yes @Chava you are right, that video with those graphs in it, showed what you mention. The first level you refer to is what would be tonic immobility, as you have muscle tone, and are still resisting; the second level my therapist calls faint, as it is the collapse state in which muscle tone...

    Therapy Anticlimatic

@GWhizz Your second post does make sense to me. Could you email her the essence of this post? It could clarify what you think that she thinks and if that is indeed what she thinks, and you make clear to her what happens to you. On the other hand if you feel the whole team is not supportive it...

Fed Up With Bf - Moving Out & Feeling Anxious

I think you have made a very good decision for yourself. Short term relief from anxiety could be anti anxiety meds. Long term relief therapy (+ meds). I had bathroom episodes like you, although thank god not at work, and in such cases the meds did not work in calming the digestive system down...

Do You Love Your Pet More Than People Sometimes ?

I have 7 rabbit friends. Since 25 years I have rescue rabbits, and every time one passes away, I find another one to provide a good home for. It is therapeutic for me to be able to give these homeless animals a good home with a rabbit worthy life. I have done a lot of crying over them in all...

    Oxygen And The Freeze Response

Sure, I believe your personal experiences, and it seems a grey zone still scientifically. Maybe the problem is that catatonia has many different faces. The only person with catatonia I have seen was my mother in severe depression after suicide attempt. She was not frozen, but had rigid...

Oh so sorry @sun seeker :( Take care  This stuff won't run away.

    Oxygen And The Freeze Response

Yes, @shimmerz there are indeed many papers out there confirming the possible connection between TI and catatonia you referred to. Below is just one of them. I could not find anything concluding yet.

    Oxygen And The Freeze Response

@shimmerz Yes freeze = tonic immobility. Agreed  @sun seeker Is it more clear to you now, as you asked about my criticism of the article? Or maybe less so ...
