Correct. It would be best to stop the THC/CBD.
I'm late to the thread, but FWIW - I tend to think it's good to eliminate the lighter med options before moving into the heavier (stronger) meds. But only you can really know how badly you are in need of relief....
Just wanted to agree with...
...I can think is just weird manifestation of anxiety in the body. (sorry for that TMI ramble.)
anyway, the was wanting to ask those who take SSRI's, has anyone noticed an increase in body memories or weird physical sensations while helping in other areas? I havent seen that as a listed side...
...following a settling of symptoms the patient eats better and that is the reason behind the weight gain. However, the other theory is that the SSRI is actually causing the weight gain and it's not additional intake of food that is the problem. This also depends on you and how you react to the...
...There was only name-brand pristiq, and it was definitely not going to be covered by my insurance unless I did another trial of an SSRI, which would have been a difficult waste of time (basically repeating something I had to do a few years before). There's a generic available now, and I...
I've been taking it for about 10 years... I tried every SSRI under the sun before that, and quickly realized that they made me gain a LOT of weight. After complaining constantly, I read about Wellbutrin, and decided to try it. It really helps me deal with life without side effects like weight...
...But to try to warn people may make some scared to try it. It would me if I were reading this pre-Seriquel XR but it is the only med that has ever worked. Seriously. I was on every single SSRI and SSNI. That is a lot of meds! Nothing worked until I tried the Seriquel XR. Soooo. You know?
...a grip! I take 100mgs - but I'm sensitive so you may need more. ******** HOWEVER: please note that you can NOT take 5-HTP if you are using a SSRI or some other types of anti-depressives as you risk serotonin syndrome which is serious!!!! *******
When sleep/stress is really bad, I knock...
...time...
My meds say no alcohol- I don’t listen. Is it really that bad to take with alcohol? I hate being drunk and out of it that’s like hell on earth but I drink everyday and I’m on an SSRI and have just been prescribed a different sleep med...don’t need to be disciplined just reassured...
...Melatonin 6mg lol
Zoplicone for like 2 weeks?
Wow I only just realised quite how many meds I've tried now ahhh. I'm very reluctant to try other SSRI's and atypical anti-depressants as I haven't found one that's worked very well at all.
My main symptoms are those of PTSD that I know theres...
...disassociated. I also had an increase in intrusive thoughts that were surreal and random and were exactly like what I got in my benzo and SSRI withdrawal.
I am 22 mos out from benzos and 5 yrs out from SSRI but have not really fully recovered due to just poor sleep.
I am trying to unravel and...
A Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor, or SSRI, is a medicinal compound, classed as an antidepressant, and used to treat depression. This group of antidepressants are also used to treat anxiety disorders, some personality disorders and insomnia. When used in reference to medicines, the term...
...and then massive mood upsets as the drugs left my system and for a while after.
Add into that that I'm now on 4 daily prescription meds (SSRI, antipsychotic, tetracyclic, drowsy antihistamine for sleep) and we're talking a lot of factors that will be influencing each other and influencing my...
I'm sorry you're so stuck, Brian. It sucks.
I can't either.
That in and of itself would be a HUGE red flag to me. Not that anyone needs a reason to switch therapists, but that right there is a sign of a truly poor therapist.
And there's another reason. You're obviously not comfortable with...
...not PTSD after all, and he's been right all along? He feels I just have to start working on changing my thinking and probably go back on the SSRI's. Is that the way? I don't know anymore; but I do know that life - and it is cold, confusing and completely devoid of life's ups and downs. I...
...me and my dog.
We both take meds that need to be taken in the morning and in the evening. Pooch takes a thyroid med. I take a thyroid med, an SSRI and vitamins and supplements.
I'm atrociously awful about forgetting to take my meds. For all of my meds bar one, and for pooch's meds, this...
There's been a lot of research that just hitting the gym 3-4 times a week has the same boost as an SSRI. I get the sense from your post that you're not ready for meds. There are other ways to take care of yourself. Eat well. Exercise. Yoga. Just food for thought.
...But yeah, I managed to fill all the little segments with all the right stuff.
It was interesting seeing how conflicted I felt about the SSRI. There's still societal "shame" attached to taking an anti-depressant.
And my FOO would like to pretend that depression "just happens" or "it must be...
I recently started on a pretty low dose SSRI mainly for anxiety, the early side effects weren’t fun (feeling physically anxious, hot flushes, fatigue) but they’ve passed pretty much after 4 weeks. I’ve noticed I’m much more resilient, less reactive and calmer - it’s like they give me time to...
I been tapering off SSRI and will be off next week. I was on it before at high dose for OCD and after my accident the psych had a theory my nervous system was too sensitive so we began lowering the ssri.
Too much serotonin is not good. Recently there have been threads about GABA and 5HTP...
...the better pdocs have an intuitive sense for what will work or not.
I remember getting a very hard sell from several doctors, but the SSRI's would make my anxiety explode out of control. Their answer? It was always up the dose. I just couldn't take them until I started on Seroquel...
...like I spent the last 20 years in a bubble, only feeling something when the emotions were strong enough to break through the alcohol, pot and SSRI's. I can't live like that anymore.
Instead what I get now is all mixed together. I feel depressed or manic on the surface but under that shell...
So I have taken 3 SSRI's in my life.
I took Effexxor (not an SSRI, but does boost serotonin).
I took Zoloft
I took Lexapro.
I took the last two during post partum depression.
All 3 meds caused manic reactions, extreme anxiety, some psychosis like symptoms, extreme intrusive thoughts, weird...
yeah, SSRI's are (side effect) platelet inhibitors, similar to ASA/aspirin, ibuprofen, NSAID's, warfarin, cumadin, etc. The higher the dose/longer you take it, the more it effects your ability to clot.
...from what I'm feeling now. I have never had a first-day reaction to any medication that made me feel like this bad, but this is also the first SSRI I've ever tried. Any worse will be "absolutely horrible" - this isn't as bad as the anxiety from increased wellbutrin, but it's not so far off...
...things may work with drugs like neurontin and may keep this dose low.
I tried this drug, but could not tolerate it.
Can you take trazadone?
I have heard it is good for sleep if you can handle an SSRI.
But benzos and z drugs may worsen/undermine sleep after a while, but can help if you need it.
