Childhood Couldn't You Have At Least Fed Me?

I'm sorry about what you've been through. I can relate with the starving. I was very underfed by my uncle for 2 months when I was 5 or 6. I don't think people understand what it's like to really be hungry. It changes your perspective on life

    Childhood Foster Care Experiences

@Air I still can't make reason out of it. Maybe because I was the only boy? Because they didn't want to be near me because they had beat me up before? I don't know. I remember on the phone, crying, asking why they didn't love me like they loved my sisters. They said "it's different, our love...

    Childhood Foster Care Experiences

Hi all. When I was 13 years old (3 years ago), my parents were looking into putting me into the foster system. I was not a behavioral problem, and I'm the oldest of 3 siblings. My parents are not bad people. They found a foster home in the nearby city and were thinking of sending me there if...

News Son Convicted Should Serve No Prison Time For "20 Minutes Of Action"

The whole thing is sickening to me. To think he only got 6 months for something that will affect the girl for the rest of her life. Think if that were a non-white, non-Stanford swimmer person. Think about how much more severe his sentence would be. The titles to all the stories on this incident...

Poll Are You More Angry At Your Perpetrating Parent Or Your Parent That Did Not Protect You?

I'm surprised by the amount of people saying they're more angry at the non-perpetrating parent. Sure they didn't protect you, but they wouldn't need to protect you if the other parent didn't abuse you. Maybe they're scared.

Welcome to the forums, James. You've been through a lot and we will be happy to help you.

Childhood Weird Sensation In Genitals - Body Memory?

I think it's a body memory. I experience something similar, just not in the genitals. As a child, my uncle held a drill or knife up to my neck a few times, or would hold me by the neck against the wall. Whenever someone touches my neck or even near my neck, like my head or shoulders, I just...

    Worst Therapist Story

I only went to a therapist once and never went again because my full grown dude therapist got way too emotional multiple times throughout the session. I was telling him I endured traumatic events as a young child, telling him what happened and he had to leave the room and gather himself...

    Torture Vs Abuse

I think there is a split line between torture and abuse. I'm not talking about dictionary definitions, I'm just talking about what I personally think. I think it shouldn't be classified as torture if you are able to escape the situation. Like a woman repeatedly coming home to her husband who...

Why Did I Have To Remember His Face?

I have similar problems. It's normal to forget important parts of the trauma. My uncle tortured me at a young age. I wouldn't have recognized his face if I had seen him around. I couldn't remember any aspect of his appearance. Then I saw him about a month ago. It snapped all back and made...

    Not Hearing My Alarm

Maybe you're not sleeping through your alarm. I used to think I was sleeping through my alarm, but the reality was I was literally turning off the alarm clock in my sleep. I wouldn't even wake up, it be like sleep walking, except just turning off the alarm.

Boxing - Mental And Physical Health

Great to hear you're doing boxing. It's great for you physically and mentally, depending on the person. My father was a boxer on T.V. Forced it upon me when I was 11. Hated every second of it, but might get back into it later in life. Glad to hear it's working out for you

What to do when you are stuck in a triggering situation

I agree with the previous posts. Changing things up makes everything feel fresher. My biggest tip would be to use a cold or hot compress on the neck or face or wherever. It always calms me down.

    Adoption

Are you sure the baby can't be sent to America? In North America, there are almost zero orphanages, and the ones that are here are small and not even legally orphanages. Your baby will likely be adopted out very quickly or placed in a foster home. I hope all goes with you and the baby. Good luck!

Other On Crutches, In Extreme Pain

I was running a 200m sprint yesterday in track and just felt a crack in my foot near the end (still came in first:p). I had slight limp, thought nothing of it, did my long jumps, and then when I got home I found out I couldn't walk. I waited until today to go to urgent care. Turns out I have a...

    Eye Contact In Therapy

I've only been with a therapist once, and I don't remember how the eye contact was, but I have a big problem with this day to day. I don't know whether I'm keeping eye contact too long, or not enough, or if it's weird that I keep looking around. It's just awkward for me. I know others have the...

    Needle-like Pain In Head

It may be ice pick headaches. They're called that because it feels like someone is hitting you in the brain with an ice pick. I've never suffered with it, but my sister does. What she describes sounds like what you're saying

    What Makes You Feel Safe?

When people talk in soft voices, or when it's warm in the room, it makes me feel safe. For most other people, they get uncomfortable when people touch them, but basic touch, such as a pat on the back or touching the arm makes me feel more comfortable with the person.

    @Alice.in.Wonderland honestly, I can't tell.

    Sexual Assault Is It Rape?

He was touching you inappropriately against your will, which is sexual assault. In order for you to give consent, you have to say yes. If you never said yes, that means consent was never given, automatically making it rape. You also cannot give consent when you are intoxicated, meaning you...

    Noise

I totally understand. I struggle with this constantly. I got diagnosed with hyperacusis, when sounds are amplified. It's gotten better and my doctor says its temporary in my case. I understand how annoying it is. Loud people aren't just annoying, they're painful, and I think it should be...

Does anyone else feel like a fraud sometimes?

I understand it. My symptoms feel like an exaggeration sometimes, like what really happened wasn't bad enough to cause all the symptoms. I sometimes feel like PTSD isn't what's wrong with me, since each event that caused my PTSD was brought on by myself. It may not seem like it to others when...

    Sexual Assault Was I Raped?

I think legally it was rape. You were drunk, and when you're drunk you can't give consent. Also, you can withdraw your consent at anytime during it. You told him to stop and he didn't stop. So I think the answer is yes.

    Ptsd And Bed Wetting

I never had a problem with bed wetting until my PTSD symptoms appeared, which was recently. After a few months it stopped, but I would recommend plastic sheets, setting the alarm every 2 hours to get up and use the bathroom, and stuff like that.

My Husband Just Told Me He's Leaving Me

I'm so sorry, Mal. That's awful. Know that we're here, and I'm always willing to talk.
