    Is this a thing?

Growing up under stress as a child, you learn the cues, you become both aware of your surroundings and self aware. You can handle a lot of things at a time. You are good at making sure other's are feeling Ok. Ect. Then you become an adult and engage in self sabotaging behavior! But you used to...

    Emdr is awesome!

So with a lot of out traumas, a lot of us cope by becoming very judgemental and analytical and too much in our head. In a non-evasive way EMDR helps you to get out of your head and into your body and that way, you can tap into your feelings. Thank you so much @ladee. It's been quite a rough...

    Emdr is awesome!

I am finding EMDR to be so helpful in my healing process and to helping me understand my self sabotaging behaviors. Why and how? If done right, (and don't expect immediate results) and whith the right therapist whom you trust, EMDR can help you to release and express emotions. Often times...

Do you ever feel like you just want someone to save you?

As you know, no one is perfect. We all have our flaws and distorted way of seeing things. A real relationship is where two people come together, look each other in the eyes and just love the other person. Even when it is hard and even when difficulties arise and they both admit they make...

Do you ever feel like you just want someone to save you?

I believe we have to do our best to make the right choices and help ourselves to the best of our ability and then from there, we can help others. I also believe others can definitely have a huge impact in our lives as well. We are not islands like that one song (Simon and Garfunkle I think?) is...

You sound like you got this even though it sucks. Keep posting when you need to. We'll all be here to support you

    Sociopath?

That's crazy. He sounds like a control freak. You are not obligated to tell him where you are going. He's only calling and asking you that because he has no control now.

    Sociopath?

Yup. He's a fickle arsehole. We're all here for you here. Plus make sure you find supportive friends to surround yourself with. Hugs

    Anybody else wonder what now?

Can totally relate. Make sure you have good people and support around you to get you through this point and on to better things. Take it easy and figure out what you want to do with your life now. It's an open canvas. Be happy for yourself to be in this better place in life and surround yourself...

    Sociopath?

This is where you are now and that's a totally normal reaction. But from here on out, you can learn to separate yourself from everyone else's toxic behavior, figure out your own triggers, take care of just you and your kids and set a good example for your kids to follow by learning how to love...

I don't think we were meant to go through all of this hurt

Sorry you are going through that. I have not nearly gone through that much physical pain. I have had sciatica nerve pain though, fainting and muscle spasm and nervousness with physical effects in my body. Not fun. What helped me was breathing exercises(simply learning to breathe at a slower...

I don't think we were meant to go through all of this hurt

Thank you everyone for your replies to this thread. I really loved so much having kind replies from everyone not from the cult I was born in because it shows me all the good people and support out there from people not part of the cult I was stuck in. Thank you for all the love and support!

I don't think we were meant to go through all of this hurt

I love your response. It is important to face our pain so we can acknowledge how deeply we were hurt, but we don't want to remain stuck there. Another thought though is some see us stuck there when in actuality we've been through more shit than they realise or are willing to acknowledge so it's...

I don't think we were meant to go through all of this hurt

I totally agree. Some things unfortunately happen to such good people. To make sense of it all is honestly very hard for us all. And a belief in karma or God and the excuses for why good or bad things happen to us, is still a mystery to us curious and beautiful human beings. Who knows for sure...

I don't think we were meant to go through all of this hurt

It's awesome that everyone else's mind went in a different direction because we are all beautiful and unique people all on our own journeys

I don't think we were meant to go through all of this hurt

Yes. If life is all about karma, then how does that explain why innocent children get abused.

I don't think we were meant to go through all of this hurt

OMG! That is so awful for someone to say

I don't think we were meant to go through all of this hurt

Same here. That notion or belief can be used in a bad way to shame people

What helps people turn their life around?

Congratulations on your daughter being declared cured and you in remission. And thank you for sharing. I can totally relate to the trauma of abuse being hard to overcome from and then another trauma not related to abuse but maybe health related you react t differently and not so much in a way...
