I am a huge fan of broths. Any meat that we eat, the bones get made into stock. I make soups all the time and freeze them. Good for the weeks when $ is really tight or if I hear a friend is sick.
Training my family to eat left overs is another matter...a work in progress.

Hi HealingSurvivor,
I started to bead. Tiny little beads on a thin fishing line. Slow and steady, one bead at a time. It helped SO much and made me slow down my thinking cuz those things will not go on unless you concentrate. It also gave me a little thrill seeing my progress. I have ropes and...
Funny how many of us love horses. And NO it is not a chick thing! Ever read Monty Roberts stuff? He talks about how at least a couple of women will faint during his clinics. Horses, and animals in general are not capable of evil. What you expect from them is not the same as what you expect from...
It can be so overwhelming when you see where you are at and then where you want to get too. They key is patience. CPTSD is going to take you on a journey. Sometimes you have to swim for your life and sometimes you have to float. The journey is never a race and hurrying the process never works...
My entire approach to CPTSD was been to learn to go with the flow of the symptoms. It is egsausting to try and fight what the mind wants to sort out.
So I kinda thought of it like trippin' out. So I would just let it flow through me like I was high.
For me, This REALLY helped. The harder I...
I like that you have not surrendered to the thought that PTSD will disable you from future goals. Good for You!
You remind me of myself, so I will tell you what I had to learn.
PTSD would get me down but not Keep me down. However if PTSD wants too it can knock you on your tushie.
So I had to...
Dissociation is there for a reason. It is not just there to annoy you. It can be an indication that you are over stressing yourself and need to slow down. It can also be an early indication of being triggered. Like any other symptom of PTSD you have to work through it now stiffle it. Remeber...
There is a plus to PTSD becoming well known. Hopefully, ignorance will leason, and public acceptance and general knowledge of this illness will be lessen the stigmatisms we face. Gotta look for that silver lining!

Knowing who it is that the anger is for is huge. I mention this so that you can gage your progress with PTSD. Remember the days when you have no idea what you felt or why?
Good for you!
Your situation with your sister is so simular to mine. My sister is heartless with my Mother. My mother is...
For years peole kept saying to me "You are stronger than you think"
I hated that one, But, They were right.
The truth will set you free but first it will piss you off!

In your situation, If I were you, Yes I would request exemption. It is such a serious responsibility and for the sake of the person on trail, you would have to remain objective. If you may be triggered that could effect your judgment and bias your opnions.
That aside if you are already feeling...
Hi Maria,
I think you have found the solution. It just takes practice. Even "healthy" people do not always recognize what is really happening in the moment. With experience you will see that very few situations require immediate responses. Take your time if you can.
What you've written sounds...
I remember a time in my life when I was aching for a diagnosis. I knew something was really wrong, but had No idea what it would be called. I just wanted a Professional to tell me ANYTHING so that I could begin to learn how to deal with what was eating me up inside.
First I thought it was...
Hi Aine,
I also was diagnosed with CPTSD and can relate completely. This is a common occurance with this disorder. It may even get worse before it improves. You see, Your mind is going to get very insistant on slowing everything down so that you can process un-resolved issues, and in the...
Hi,
First of all thank you for sharing and welcome to the forum.
Now to the matter at hand. There are NO quick tricks to avoiding PTSD. Get that thought right out of your head becasue it will only serve to slow down any recovery in the future.
Your no-nonsense, bottom line way of thinking...
Anger/rage is a normal and healthy part of the Process. There may be a small part of you feeling victimized right now. That stupid doctor Phil-I can't stand him most of the time- said it well. "When you are angry, that is when you are playing the victim the most". Sometimes we have a right to...
I have three tatts. For the same reasons as you all have mentioned. Do I regret them. Yes but I am not going to frett over it because removing them would create moreof a mess.
I now really do believe that Tatts and multiple piercings can be a matter of self harm. Especially if a person is doing...
The book considered the best self-help book on the market for depression is Feeling Good by Dr. David Burns. You can buy a copy at most book stores, or rent it out from a public library.
It changed the direction of my life.
Yep, a pretty good book. I don't know HOW many times I took that...
If your T is recommending Meds, ask lots of questions. Try and get a feel for Why he wants you on them. A good T will tell you that Meds area tool, not a solution.
Also, depending on what you diagnosis is, beware of book stores. Some self help books are designed for different stages of healing...
For Anni,
Autobiography in five short chapters
1) I walk, down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost...I am hopeless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
2) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I...
