    Insert Swearish Rant Here

Have I mentioned how utterly %$&%% full of deep fried badger bullocks this year is? I am so bleep-bleep-bleep-bleep angry at this !!#$#&% crap that calls itself reality... I am going to go stick my head in the sand now and pretend I'm an ostrich.

I feel chronically numb to the country I live in.

Great suggestion Freemartin, never heard of him. I do tend to go into apathy where stoicism is concerned, so it might be good for me to read a 'human' approach. I'm glad you're being proactive. Probably the best attitude.

I feel chronically numb to the country I live in.

That sounds like 'sound judgement'. On the other hand, can't hurt to maybe go there for a while? Sorry to hear you're also having such a hard time with it. I'm based somewhere else than US, but even then the whole thing feels bonkers. So far stoicism is pretty much the best solution, although...

I feel chronically numb to the country I live in.

Fellow hardy souls, Perhaps this a bit weird, but I don't like my country to the point of it being kind of traumatic. I used to somehow relate it, and now I relate it zero percent. I dislike the culture, the mentality, the mindset, to the point where I just dissociate and feel nothing...

    My therapist destroyed me

The whole situation seems completely unhealthy imo. Not okay for a therapist (in my opinion) to break down in tears, to retaliate in any way, or to post shit to social media about her feelings related to her practice or any of her clients. If she's young, then maybe she hasn't had a practice...

Other Managing PTSD within current political climate

True. All the more reason to try to remain calm. The more they "get" to you, the easier it is for them to manipulate you. It's weird but we are being taught to "stay cool" on a mass scale, even in the face of these atrocities. Of course it's ok to be mad, but to not let the anger ruin our lives.

Small things, great victories. What’s yours?

Somehow I am STILL holding on to my dreams after 20 years of trying, failing, trying, failing, trying.

Other Managing PTSD within current political climate

I don't really follow the news anymore. I useed to follow alternative news for a while, a newspaper that had more of an open-minded stance around everything that happened after 2020. Helped them a bit here and there. But after a while I got turned off from that too. In the end, "Tha News"...

    Political Venting

Kinda similar to this thing where all these supossedly Left-Or-Right american twitter accounts were not based in the States but somewhere off in Africa and Asia. Lot of manipulation going on. Even when you're being told to direct your attention in any particular direction, keep your wits about...

    My therapist destroyed me

That sounds super strange. Were you informed at some point of it being temporary? Yes, I think it makes sense for you to say something to her. Probably best to try to word it in terms that 'sound professional'. Not so much for your sake but because people who are in any professional circles...

My reason for being suicidal is stupid

no, you don't. I'm going to speak to you as one (perhaps crappy) artist to another (good or crappy, I cannot say from here). 'deserving' is a construct. A construct which says there is some kind of vengeful, childish force out there which thinks that a score must be settled. That a score was...

Possibility of homelessness. Lot of confusion.

Thank you all for replying! Same. This one actually diagnosed too. And now that I am coming back to my scribbles here and elsewhere on the internet, I feel like once again my episodes are a display of contamination OCD, along with a whole bunch of other symptoms. It sort of helps to attach...

Avoiding therapy because I feel 'succesful'

Thank you so much all :) I guess I should have mentioned, my long history of therapies, therapists. I've been in and out, before. Never considered it a problem, had a good therapist, too. And some atrociously bad ones. This hits home for me. Thank you. That sounds wonderfully Zen (ever read...

Possibility of homelessness. Lot of confusion.

Hey Rose. Not sure either. Just trying to make sense of what I feel is an incomprehensible jungle of emotions, and just getting any kind of feedback on my situation will be a good starting point for me to dis-entangle my mess. "Upside-Down-Eagle" is a reference to a lot of things... I'm...

Avoiding therapy because I feel 'succesful'

I feel conflicted between a feeling, on the one hand, and a reality on the other. Thought that feels like a reality: "I don't need therapy because I am huge success in my life. Look at my house, it is all tidied up, looking great, I am an accomplished person who tries to run a business. If I...

Possibility of homelessness. Lot of confusion.

Dear old and new peers, I need your help. Once again, I got myself into a situation where I might be evicted. I need to give you some context. I am very confused right now. Way back, I understood my own story (childhood trauma, had all the classic symptoms, diagnosed cptsd). But the symptoms...

Why do I romanticize my messed up childhood?

I'm sorry for not reacting sooner. When I came back, I was locked out for a while (spam filter, my country gets flagged sometimes). And after that, well I dissociated and then forgot to post. Thank you Survivor, I often suspect that the "overly-empathic and sensitve person" (or "empath") is...

Why do I romanticize my messed up childhood?

Hi there, Upside Down here, went by a lot of names but I don't come around so often any more. I was diagnosed cptsd from childhood abuse. I am relatively fragmented (or a lot?) in the sense that there's many aspects of me who operate quite independently, but not to the degree of being DID. One...

How do I start living in reality?

I love your comment. Thank you for telling me about your daughter. Recently I joined a kungfu club, although I have to say that I have participated in "real life" clubs often and it has never gotten any better. I seem to be able to dwell in a parallel world even when I'm out and engaging in...

How do I start living in reality?

Hi forum dwellers, It's been a while. I seem to post every five years now 😆 Diagnosed about twenty years ago but now mostly healed. No flashbacks, much less panic, more embodied. A while ago I found out I also have traits of autism (I'm high functioning, and am pretty good at hiding it)...

    The 'Love Yourself First' Debate

I like that you said that. Honestly, the Christian perspective on this is much more liberating (to me) than the more modern spiritualist version of it. At least "love your neighbour" is a clear instruction. I know I can't do it (because the damage done to me was rather extensive) but at least it...

    PTSD and Trees

I never though of it this way. Kind of interesting to hear a different perspective - I usually feel safer when there's trees around. Trees for me represent solidity, grounding. Standing firm. And of course there's a link to the Ents.

What IS Selfish… anyways? How do YOU define selfish? What does it mean to you?

I think you can't put a value to a word like that. I think it depends on the outcome. A. "I was selfish and needed to hibernate" (self-care = Good!) B. "I was selfish and stole something" probably not good. Even scenario B. could have "beneficial" consequences if it means that the...

    PTSD and Trees

Might sound ultra-stupid, but I really feel like I get more unconditional love from trees than from humans. Not really wanting to put words to it, they just "are" there and literally don't go anywhere 😁

    The 'Love Yourself First' Debate

Hiya there forum dwellers and truth seekers, Someone recently posited a premise to me. You'll all be familiar with this - it is very pervasive specially in semi-spiritual niches. This idea that you should love yourself first and then you will attract love. Or in other words, that you should...
