The book I was going to suggest is "Once a Warrior Always a Warrior." Here's a link to his TED talk. My PTSD isn't combat related (unless you want to say I grew up in some kind of war zone. Is your PTSD directly related to your work as a police officer? If so, then you should be able to request, and receive medical disability retirement from the city that you have faithfully served.

Thank you for your service. It is far too often a thankless job protecting an ungrateful society, but it does not go un-noticed by all of us, so again, Thank you.

Thank you very much...the only time i heard that was when my two friends were killed in the line of duty. My ptsd started after they were murdered.

I have started the Medical retirement application. My dr has already signed off on the paperwork.

My husband was a police officer for 17 years, and he took medical retirement due to PTSD. I appreciate things work differently over here, but I hope you manage to get the equivalent.
