Really Terrible Work Evaluation

I received a terrible work evaluation today. Like, really, really terrible. I'm blindsided and feel like it just is a weird anomaly, as my evaluations are usually really good.

The problem is twofold:

1. My work is contract-based, so this is with someone I've never worked with before and doesn't have the history of my good reviews (which prove this is an anomaly) because this is my first review with this person.

2. Frankly, I lost a lot of time during the contract, maybe more than usual. I really trust my work-self to take over and do well and usually there are no consequences. I guess it didn't work this time, and I don't know how to address this evaluation as I don't really remember doing the job.

I'm panicked. Usually work is the one thing I can count on to make me appear normal.

I feel for you. I've experienced a sudden bad appraisal, shortly after my symptoms started. If you are used to being reliably competent it does make the world shudder.

Practically, does it matter? Will others see this evaluation? Is it accurate? Do you want to work there again?

It does and it doesn't matter. Yes and no. I don't are if I work there again, but I do care because the professional world i'm in is so small that people talk, and I'm afraid of it affecting my reputation with others. I don't think the evaluation is super accurate, but it still exists - which is devastating.

1) Can you communicate with your parts to find out if there's any issues going on? Someone inside may know what went wrong.

2) I have personally had to ask for time in the body, so I can get efficient at the job too. I have to ask daaaays ahead, and I'm never allowed out all day. *shrugs* but at least if anything happens, I can hold the fort.
Can you try learning some of your job?

3) I know you journal. Can you ask your work-part to reflectively journal each work day/project etc? What went well, what could've been improved... etc. This is strongly encouraged in my industry, and I've found it helps us (parts) all know what happened at work and if there's any issues someone needs to work on.

@pixel, Realized I never responded to you on this.

These are really good ideas. It doesn't solve anything for me in terms of this awful evaluation, but I think moving forward it will helpful. Hopefully I can avoid this in the future!

I'm not so good with communicating with my parts yet. I'm working on it, but frankly even have trouble accepting that they exist. So, I'm not sure if I can find anything out that way. Same issue with asking for time in the body. Working on it.

But journaling as a way of keeping track, specifically as a work habit - I think I am going to try that in the new year. Thank you. That is a really good suggestion.

@Freedomfighter I don't really like evaluations, either, but the rest of my field does, so I'm stuck in many ways.
