Hi there,

I've noticed my symptoms tend to increase around my period - and that I tend to lose perspective around this time. Has anyone else noticed this?

Boy, do I ever..........today I'm moody and on the verge of suicidal thoughts......want to run away from home again, angry and despairing.

I know it is because I'm about to start, so I just tell myself that this too shall pass, but if I had to go to work and deal with anything, my symptoms would flare big time with the added stress.

It makes PTSD magnitudes harder.

My BF's in the past would always relate my 'storms' to my time of the month. I have to finally admit that it is really an 'intensifier' to PTSD and puts me over the edge.

'Sometimes its hard to be a woman'

Try to take extra special care of you and avoid triggers when you know it's 'that time.' I think its the best we can do.

When my symptoms got really bad I noticed that when it was time for my period that it would crank me up to a whole new level. Lately it hasn't been as bad. I guess like everything else-and I do mean EVERYTHING-associated with PTSD, stress makes it that much worse.

I get very emotional a day before my period starts and the first day of it is annoying too. So if I have anxiety attack, its twice as bad.

I find my PTSD almost unmanagable at this time of the month. I'm like a ticking time bomb and its not pretty when things don't go as planned. During these days I have to have "safe" places and I must be able to predict what the day will be like. I too have triple the anxiety and cry periodically. It sucks............

Two days before my period I get very emotional. The highs are higher and the lows are lower. I either turn into a very happy and extroverted person or a very depressed and cranky person. There's not alot in between.

I also noticed that when my PTSD was at its worst and it was undiagnosed that I missed a couple of periods. I guess stress will do that to you.

Hang in there. :occasion:

thanks you guys. I've been feeling on the verge of tears for a few days, and my sense of perspective is getting considerably out of whack. Think I'll head to yoga and try to keep human contact to a minimum.

I had a meltdown yesterday, and it coincided with the first day of my period. I'm pretty sure this has happened before. Boy, am I glad it's not just me, Auburngirl!

try this cocktail...pmt....ptsd...full moons......i had a ball raising hell and frightening the devil himself.....:mad:dont f@#k with me man..:naughty:...:poke: ...........im very mellow and happy this week....until next month..... then its back to crying my eyes out and clawing your eyes out.....and being a totaly nice human being....

The modern diet is off balance. Throw PTSD and your monthly visit from Pamela Mary Smith on top of it and yeah, wicked surges of hormones come busting out. Check with your doctor on what you're body's low on, like protein and vitamin Bs and use a supplement during that time. Don't forget to stay away from nasty little vermin like caffeine, refined sugars, and high-carb foods. Pamela Mary Smith may try to trick you into believing you need a can of pop, bag of chips, and milk chocolate, but she's lying.

Yer me too, i get very touchy and overly emotional around the time of my periods are due. Alot more then I used to get with just PMT.

PMT + PTSD = :wall:
