I went to a private school, but even so, we got a totally lamestream his-story which I detested and dropped as soon as I was able to (names, dates and "great" rulers -absolute load of horse shite )
And did not learn any formal system of logic - not even a dumbed down Boolean mathematical system
In a way, I guess that those may have been plus points, because I would probably have assumed that I already "knew" those subjects, and would probably not have been inclined to look into them any further as an adult.
As it happened, by pure chance, I've managed to hitch onto "revisionist" historians who go and root out the full story, rather than simply accepting the court historians' partial account that intentionally starts and finishes with trying to make the state look good- and that's no easy task.
And I've found the "Austrian" economists, and through them, Aristotlean and Thomist (Scholastic) verbal systems of logic, that (apart from exceptions like Grotius, Locke and Hulme) pretty much dropped out in north western Europe at the time of the religious "reformation".
There are a few good state sector education systems (eg the Italian, Finnish and the Greek (at least up to 20 years ago)), but in the English speaking world, they seem to be hopelessly dumbed down in so many respects.
But then, let's face it, look what was done to Socrates for his encouraging free thinking
And if he ever actually existed - Jesus!
The two most influential names in western civilisation, Socrates and Jesus - both killed by democracy.
