John Winkler

New Here
Hey my name is John Winkler and I am a farm boy from Kansas, USA. I served in the Army, 1st Infantry Division, 1st ENGR BN for four years, including service in the Persian Gulf War; Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Kuwait. Somehow I managed to have a rough experience when first trying to use this forum. Won't bore you with the problems, there have been plenty. Just anxious to interact with others who have faced similar obstacles in their lives. Dad was a Marine in Korea, so between my childhood and my own service I guess I've been confronting these issues for a long, long time.

Welcome John (again),

I'm glad that you decided to give it another shot. You'll be glad that you did as this is a place where we gather to confront the beast (PTSD) and support each other. We are brothers in combat in war and healing. Pull up a chair.

Welcome John, glad you came back.

I am from Australia, my father served the last few years of WWII then became a policeman for 32 years, I believed he had PTSD now that I understand about it.

I served for 20 years and did tours in New Guinea, East Timor and Iraq.

Hope we can help and maybe your experiences can help others.

Jimmy

Thanks Jimmy. I look forward to being a constructive member. Apologies for the initial confusion and the rant.

Welcome to the forum. Its filled with good people and lots of helpful info. I think its the best out there. Just don't overwhelm yourself with all there is to read on here. All the info can overstimulate or even trigger you. Glad you figured out a way back here.

Morning John.

Reddevil is right, loads of info. I read too much when I arrived, got opened up like a tin of beans; feel better for it now though!

Welcome John. This place is full of helpful info. I'm Canadian so my perspective is slightly different, but then again common sense advice is international isn't it. Keep your stick on the ice.

Welcome brother. This is a good place to be. As has been said, lots of info. So take a knee, lurk as you need to, bitch when have to, joke when you can.
