So, I don't know where to begin really... I'm Jennifer and I'm a medic in the British Army. I'm 21 years old... deployed to Helmand, Afghanistan in 2011 and thus here I am... I am not 'officially' diagnosed nor on any type of medication, however since I returned home I have not been able to function without nightmares, anxiety and generally being fearful constantly. I joined the site because I would like to learn from others more about PTSD and hopefully make some friends... A couple of things about me. Music is a huge part of my life... It is my means to escape. I also enjoy photography... when things get bad it is sometimes the only thing that can motivate me to get out of the house and takes my mind off of all the bad things that could possibly happen. Anyway! ... It's nice to 'meet' you all.

Evening Jennifer, I was also a CMT in Afghanistan; 09-10.

Music is good, talking therapy has helped a whole bunch too. That includes this place. I mainly have a read on here every few days now, but I think it really has played a positive in my progress since the tour I did.

What support do you have in the army, mates?

I got out and studied, worked out ok and easier to square my head away.

Welcome Nex.
I too was in Helmand 09-10. I have a lot of respect for our brothers and sisters in the British military.
Check out the PTSD music thread if you like, pages of music in there.

Black.

I wasn't a medic, but a few corpsman put me back together well enough to get home more times than I care to admit.

hang in there.

Welcome Jennifer,

If it's ab bit more information about PTSD you're in the right place. So, pull up a chair- lots to read here.

Got a good mix of folks here that deal with the *Beast* and we're spread across the globe. There are a few Medics / Corpsmen that hang their hats here as well. I don't have to tell you that those who *stood up when the rest of us went down* are held in high regard no matter when or where one served.

Welcome home Jennifer! You came to a great site with a lotta good advice for free. Have a good look around. Check out the Media section & for music there is a PTSD Music thread in the Stand at the Bar forum. We also post writing & art therapy as well. I really respect what your medics & corpsmen had to deal with since there were many in my group with me at Walter Reed-Bethesda. We worked through many of their experiences with them. Peace

Man. This makes me sad.. 21 years old...!

I was in Hellman in 2009, mostly stationed in FOB Price, and PB Barakzai.

But welcome to the group. These old fellas will make you feel like coming home, and like you have a place to be. There's a lot of wisdom hidden in this forum.

Johnny
