Yes the web, but thought maybe it was a place that understood that invasion is traumatic. New, and very very , well vomited when I found it and now just mad as hell. Putting my post up on Stofity signed Anthony Parsons. Beware of predators.

Post is Storify. fingers as sick as my gut for finding the post.

This is another site, where threads and posts that are in public areas, are also linked to this site. Everything that is written in a public area is accessible by anyone using the internet and once any one of us posts here, it become the property of MyPtsd. I am sorry you are finding this disturbing, but it isn't anything that is out of line or puts anyone at greater risk as everything here is already part of the web.

@intothelight

Few issues then. My words were posted to Storify from myPTSD. Words were mine. Signature was not mine. It was 'signed 'Anthony Parsons. So Anthony owns every word written and can cut and paste and disseminate it as he pleases. Shucks, started thinking I was in quasi safe place to interact, healthy, build friendships and some trust. But from the get go there is no trust. Parsons owns every word I write, every breath you take belongs to me, can't you see, I'll be watching you. Twisted way about this share and I sell to who ever whatever.

Your paranoia echoes throughout your posts. Are you unaware that there is no privacy online?

I had never heard of the website before, so I just went and checked it out...

It looks like a tiled version of Google. Search anything, and results pop up. So, if I searched Anthony Parsons? MYPTSD posts & articles for days. Although, not anything from the private areas of the site, just the public ones.

Ditto, if I search _________ (any other website, in this case one I used to be a mod on) postings from that website. Stuff I'd written from 5 years ago on another forum if I keyword it right. Cool! (The other website has a lousy search feature).

I guess I don't understand how this storify website is any different from google, yahoo, bing, etc. If you google A.P. with the right keywords all the same stuff pops up. Just seems like a search engine that groups results by website, instead of by popularity, hits, etc. AKA all the different robots that are on the site all the time, which is how any of us find results by Google, bing, yahoo, etc. Their robots sort and sift through all the data online, and then when a user searches? Voila! Results.

What you decide to share in public areas of the forum is your responsibility, not Anthony's, or the sites. If you are sharing information, photos or a username that you can be easily identified by, in posts that are visible to the public, then that is something you have chosen to do. If you're not sharing anything that you can be easily identified by, then how does the reshare invade your privacy or safety?

What is the problem with things that you have chosen to share publically already, being shared publically? It could be done at any time by anyone with access to the page, which is everyone with access to the web.
The copyright thing is stated pretty clearly in the terms and conditions.

Posting in the members areas of the forums gives you a little more privacy in that any links shared from there, someone would have to sign up and become a member to read - but as anyone can sign up and become a member quite easily that's not much protection.....

I don't think the issue here is with the sites security or Anthony's ethics, I think it's with your misunderstanding of how privacy does, or doesn't, work on the internet. You need to take responsibility for your own privacy and safety and think carefully about what you choose to share.

To answer your original question, yes, I have had my posts put up automatically, just like you, on Storify, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc. Posts on MyPTSD are also on Facebook. The site has been used to sell advertisements too.

Why are you most concerned about Storify? I'm not sure you understand how Storify works. It was explained to you by Anthony on this Help Desk thread: Link Removed but if you google "how does Storify work?" you will get a better explanation.

It's not like Anthony cut and pasted your specific post and wrote it as his writing. He could do that, but that's not what happened here. Lashing out and calling him a predator isn't going to help.

It's my understanding that myPTSD is linked to social media in order to increase traffic and increase funding so that there can be a site at all. You do know that it takes thousands of dollars annually, not to mention countless hours of maintenance work, to keep this site up and running, right? You know that Anthony has footed the bill for all this when donations didn't cut it, right? Posts on MyPTSD are on social media for our benefit - not to prey upon you or anyone else, like you have implied.

It can be very painful for most people when they first realize how public everything is, especially if they believed there was privacy when there really isn't any privacy on the internet. (Frankly, it's no longer wise to expect privacy even on email, but that's another matter...) You are right that nothing you posted, or that most anyone has posted, is private. No one promised to you that it would be.

You know everything is public, and is automatically posted on other social media sites, and you get to choose what to do. If you want a 100% private forum, you have all the ability to go and start that forum. You will struggle to get traffic to the site and build a community at all, and to find a way to pay for the forum, but that is the trade-off. You get choose. No choices have been taken from you.
