Apologize;

I see the post about what the ads are now.

Is it possible to see a monthly accounting of what the fees are and to what companies they are paid?

I redact my statement about advertising. I'm a premium member, so I no longer see ads and forgot the forum was attempting to drive new ad revenue. I apologize for my misstatement, but in the past, when we have had ad revenue (read: when Adsense was running), our donation costs were lowered to compensate for the lack of need. If you read that article, you would know we nearly went donation-free, so members would no longer bear the burden of donating monthly.

The "fine print" in the article I linked:

Parsons and other members find the idea of MyPTSD monetizing anything laughable. Before earning revenue through AdSense, server costs were covered through premium membership incentives, member donations, and Parsons himself. Between 11 volunteer staff members, site moderators clock around 1,000 hours per month "to ensure this community remains stable and safe for our membership."

Just want to point out: it's clear in the legal terms that MyPTSD is under governance of the laws in Victoria, Australia.

How things "work" in the U.S. is just about the least relevant thing there is. Americans have such a reputation for thinking that US reality is the relevant reality.

It's not. It's really not.

We (myself and my countrymen/women) also are generally unaware of how to take responsibility for ourselves when it comes to keeping ourselves informed on our chosen environments.

I am not really great with the Internet, and I did my research before I invested in posting (exposing myself) here. It wasn't hard. And the things I didn't understand (Australian law) I checked out. I wanted to know what I was signing up for.

That's my job. I'm the user. It just kind of kills me when people get angry or soapboxy about how it should or should not be.

It is what it is, and it's all disclosed.

I want to be clear - I'm writing as an individual. I choose to volunteer my time here as a staff member because I've researched the place and I like it. I use it, I benefit from it, and I'm very glad of the opportunity afforded me to provide this kind of structural support.

But I'm just another member. And I educated myself about the site I was joining. Why is that so hard for people to do, if it's something they care to know about? I don't get it.

Edit to add:
This is a great, clear request:

@Solara what are the privacy protections for Shutterfy? from their site:
"We collect personal information when you register with any of our family of brands via our websites, mobile sites or mobile applications (collectively, our "Sites and Apps") and when you use any of our products or services. Personal information is any information about you that is personally identifiable, such as your name, address, email address or phone number, Facebook Connect sign-in information (if applicable), and any other information that is not otherwise publicly available.

I do not understand. MYPSTD is private, Shutterfly is not.

This is what you said..... in this thread.....
https://www.myptsd.com/threads/need-therapy-advice-asap.49620/

Jumped on you? I have not posted about Shutterfly. Perhaps you confuse me with some one else.

So yes, you HAVE posted about Shutterfly and it sets up a pattern. Are you dissociative when posting or have memory issues?

This is a completely useless subject, and one that paranoia typically reigns supreme with. When you post it here on a public area, that content is then publicly accessible by Google, Yahoo, Bing and well... every single search engine in the world, who choose to index or not the public accessible content.

So think about that... if you post it here, it is now available to the world via a replicated version of the page cached by every and any search engine across the globe that indexes this website. If you can accept that, then you can accept that we automatically publish snippets of each thread onto about 14 social network profiles, which help us directly drive traffic to the site. You cannot read the entire content unless it is short, but instead a snippet to a max character count is republished on controlled pages by MyPTSD.

Why isn't everything Anon, MyPTSD, or such? Because I do not control how other sites use their naming conventions. Storify, being the example here, use a persons full name only, such being me. Most are republished using MyPTSD or PTSD Forum, and my name if they use a real name. What's so difficult to understand about this concept, considering the moment you hit post here, that content is now publicly accessible across the globe, regardless of our republishing snippets to our social profiles.

Our profiles are ours, thus controlled by us, the same as this site. If you can't accept this, you shouldn't be posting online, period. If I register a profile onto a social network for MyPTSD, it is my information that becomes available to them, not members information here. Seriously... do you think they plugin to the database here or something? That is not how the web works... what you see is what is happening, nothing more, nothing less.

Please quit the paranoia.

Does Anthony pay himself?
Does Nicolette pay herself as things are run through her bookkeeping company?
Are moderators paid?
It doesn't need to be, because there is no money to pay anyone... because the sites costs exceed the income. If you would like to pay the difference instead of me, please just say... because I would be more than happy to have you paying the remainder costs instead of myself. If not... seriously cease your nonsense or your account will terminated, as you are trolling, along with @Changeling. If you have a relevant question, then starting some bullshit thread like this is not the way to do it, but instead just ask your question in the help desk.

Nicolettes company has nothing to do with payment of anything... it is a way to help push legal liability to a company entity, which under Australian law is its own entity.

Does Nicolette pay herself as things are run through her bookkeeping company?
Wrong assumption @TLight - NONE of this forum is run through my bookkeeping company....my business is my business and has nothing to do with the running or financials of this site.

I find it quite insulting as to how one would think that me, of all people, who has given to this forum for 7+ years to date, while supporting my husband with it, would seek to gain anything from the forum other than to support those with PTSD or Supporters of same.
