I've been taking Citalopram 40mg for 3yrs, it has certainly helped me especially when going through some difficult therapy sessions. It's an SSRi & non addictive. I also take Amitriptyline to help with sleep.
I used to love all the preparations for christmas & new year but since my trauma that happened on new years eve 2005, i just dont have the same enthusiasm or energy to withstand the extra stress, dreading the date as it gets closer. This year I decided that i wasnt going to dread it, I've done...
Thank you so much for your replies, your support & suggestions has be a great help.
Christmas, as it usually does, has passed without disaster. Other than me having food poisoning I had a lovely time with my sons & families, playing with grandchildren or going for walks when things got tough...
Not sure where I should have posted this, so I apologise if its in the wrong place.
Christmas & in particular New Years eve bring with them some very disturbing memories & although i consider myself in recovery this year it seems to have hit me bad. It's the first year without my T's support &...
Hi Pink
Well done for trying to find a solution to help you attend when there is a chance your ex will be there, you are thinking in the right direction when you say 'But I don't want my fear of him to get the best of me and miss an important day in her life. I've never missed one no matter...
Hi Sazza
I've lost track of the dose Citalopram you are on, is it 20mg? I found that while I was on 20mg it helped with dampening my anxiety but didn't have much affect on my depression, I had a constant need just lounge around with a feeling of apathy. My T suggested I increase to 40mg & I have...
I havent had my levels tested but after putting on 28lbs my gp explained that it could be cortisol, this stress hormone tends to make us eat high carbohydrate foods which lays fat down around the waist.
I have had my chlolesterol tested though & found it to be 7.4, another possible side effect...
I've been on 40mg Citalpram for nearly 3 yrs & combined with therapy it has worked very well for me. I take it in the morning as i find it so hard to wake up if i take it at night. As KP says it is an aid, rebalancing our brain chemistry, the hard work is in managing our symptoms.
I thought...
It depends on how I feel
Daily I
- wear a necklace made of shells I've collected with my granddaughter, I have added an extra shell for each barrier I've got through, if I'm feeling anxious i hold it & know I can get through the tough times
- take a dip in my hot tub
When I want to hibernate...
Therapy - again with the right therapist
Medication - still hate taking it but hope to come off it next year
Healthy eating
Learning to love & look after my soul - so important, before therapy I didn't know I had one!
Taking life the way it suits me, not feeling i must please other people...
Me too KP, its such a personal therapy that you must be able to trust your therapist to guide you through & support you. It was my third emdr session before i realised just how much I trusted my T. I have a lot to thank her for.
I am convinced that emdr played a vital role in my recover.
