General PTSD and fear of coronavirus

I've worried about the coronavirus enough to take the necessary precautions, such as staying at least six feet from others the best I can. However, I haven't been overly worried, in part, because I haven't been watching the news on TV a lot. I watch it some so I can stay informed about the...

Travel - where is the one place you’ve been and you’d go back to?

Back in 2011, I visited the Mid-Atlantic states (Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware), among other places. I'd like to go back there within the next few years, as I may want to move down there at some point in my life.

    Current Weather

Here today in the southern part of Maine, United States, it was cloudy and overcast this morning, but we had some sun this afternoon. Now it has clouded up again. And it's sprinkling at times. In the afternoon it made it all the way up to 70 degrees F! That's warmer than what I'm used to.

Hero’s - is the term being overused?

I dislike it when a not-so-nice person is called a hero. And I also hate it when sports stars are called heroes. To me, a hero is someone who risks his or her life to save others, not somebody who is merely a great athlete who catches a lot of touchdown passes in the NFL or scores a lot of...

    DID ECT memory loss?

I had ECT treatments, due to my severe depression issues, back in the spring of 2001. As a result, I don't remember much from most of 2000 and the first half of 2001. Unfortunately, the ECT treatments didn't work for me. However, the ECT treatments were NOT an option of last resort for me, as...

How to cope with the return of suicidal thoughts?

I had issues with suicidal thoughts ever since I was ten years old or so starting back in the late 1980's. When I was happy I wasn't suicidal and when I was unhappy I'd often get suicidal. Fortunately I haven't had suicidal thoughts in years, even when I have a bad day.

CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) - Can you explain it to me?

I've worked with lots of psychotherapists who specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy over the years. And as someone who has dealt with depression for much of my life, they've helped me challenge and replace my old, negative, irrational beliefs with new, positive, rational beliefs.

How Did You Sleep Last Night?

I usually go to bed around 9 pm, which I know is quite early for a guy my age (I'm 41 years old). Last night was no different for me. And within a half an hour or so, I was sound asleep. Also, I got my full eight hours of sleep in with no dreams, I'm happy to say. Right now, it's 8:27 pm in...

    Less sleep less anxiety

When I had very serious and unpleasant anxiety issues years ago, it didn't matter how good or bad I slept the night before. I was incredibly nervous and shaky much of the time.

    Anxiety Medications

I've been on a psychiatric medication called Clozaril since 2011. I take one pill each morning and two pills just before bedtime. Each pill I take is 100 mg per pill. Clozaril has helped me greatly with my anxiety issues. It's also helped me with my issues with bipolar disorder. I'm...

    Cancelled appointments

I certainly know what it's like to work with a mental health professional that I liked, only to be set up with someone new. The thing is, I've always been seeing psychiatric NPs and psychiatrists at community mental health centers as well as community health centers. And places like that tend...

    Yay! It's Spring

My favorite time of year is late spring/early summer. My favorite spring thing is visiting nice communities on the coast of Maine, United States, in part, because I can see the beautiful coast before the summer tourists arrive and cause a lot of congestion on the roads.
