Something I found out today. It is that last dates for overseas mail by surface mail has either passed or will do in the next few days, for guaranteed delivery for Christmas.
I am aware of this but that was sea mail and here it was the end of September. The cost difference is actually minimal for the difference like $3 to the UK between sea and air.
I will need to tidy this up and get it organised earlier than 30 October so with heart surgery coming up so Nadia and anyone else contemplating participating please respond by the end of this weekend. Please also make sure you have sent me your address by PC.
Off the top of my head I already have the following member's addresses (without looking at PC's sent to me already):
Mine :hilarious:
Amethist
CraftyCath
Cherryblossom
KP the Nut
I know I should have more from previous years/events but I can't find the PC's. Sorry. I think I save some in a screen print but I'm short of time to go digging so please PC and don't forget to tell me what 'name' (forum/real) you want to use on your address thank you.
Question: What is the conversion rate for US v AU and UK. Will we be slapped if we go over the 20? Sometimes I just can't control myself.
I have already picked who I want to be drawn to send to! I know I am expecting magic! I feel like a little kid, giving is the thought that counts; not the monetery amount. Hugs Whitney
But, looking at shipping costs, I may look at gift sites for which ever country my recipient is in. Chose a gift wrap option and be able to spend the postage on buying something nicer rather than the mail service charging me a whopping great postage bill.
I just sent very small gifts to the UK and it was daylight robbery. I suggest you wait and see who you are drawn and if cross-continental buy online in the country of the recipient as it often costs more to send something than the cost of the gift.
Also Whitneys story, you have to be careful of the value as in some countries you will get hit with import duties/taxes so it's important to make sure the description includes the word 'gift' and is of a relatively small value.
I sent a gift to the UK which cost around $70 for memory and cost me $30 in postage despite being very light. When it got to the UK it was another $20 - $30 as it was over their gift value or maybe it was because I didn't write the word gift. It is for this reason it is about the intent and not the value. We have to be sensible so more members can participate.
