My book arrived this morning. I have only had chance for a quick scan through it as yet.

Almost 4 years into being a supporter, and to be honest not doing too badly. I have found a couple of big mistakes I have been making, mostly about how I take care of ME.

To all supporter reading this section, especially those new to PTSD. It may be a good idea for you to seriously consider buying yourself a copy.

I could have done with this right at the beginning.

I think looking after yourself is the hardest lesson to learn..... it is easy become so giving to an illness which actually does not require giving of oneself in order to help the other heal. If someone has the flu we give them soup in bed and fuss over them in order to help them get well. PTSD does not require home made chicken soup.... just good boundaries and strength from the supporter.
