Being Compared To Past Lovers

What I discovered in relationships; with or without PTSD - is that partners will compare new lovers with their past lovers, but with PTSD - it seems more noticeable and I find myself, defending "me" when accused of doing something or being like someone from the past.

That's very interesting thing that you bring up sense I’ve had this brought to my attention a few times. Personally I feel like it's important to talk about your past relationships but I don't ever, ever compare people. I feel like it dooms a relationship from the start and there is no room for real growth when you do that. I'm a sufferer and I’ve been compared to past girlfriends, it's an odd thing that people do but I think it's okay to bring up the bad and the good; eventually your partner will see how much better you really are.
I hope you don't mind me responding :)

Sqweak, I am happy you responded...it helps me... I feel the same way and I learned that lesson years ago.. I've widowed twice and not one man was anything like the other... I think I purposely sought opposite qualities.

My man is so amazing, there wouldn't be any competition. So, why waste the time thinking about it? I've got to obsess about my PTSD . . . until I find the bell boy to take away this baggage.
